Many threads regarding the iPhone static burst when paired with the SC -- some sort of incompatibility.

I'm wondering whether any of the iPhone software upgrades have fixed this or whether the new iPhone 3G S makes a difference.

I havent heard anything about it. Lexus bluetooth notes says that there is an issue with the 2 g . I have one of the 2 g I still get the static burst. I also get it when its paired to my motorcycle garmin zumo gps. I guess no one has complained about it enough. if you find anything out lemme know

I'm almost positive it's the EDGE network. It's not only iPhones (but seems like they do it the most) and when my friends ride with EDGE, it does it. I always have 3G on when I'm in my car and hasnt done it when I have 3G on.

Not sure if there is a solution if it is EDGE...

It's an '06. I had static with my 1st gen iphone and my friends 3G -- not with the new one.

I just upgraded the soft wear on my 2g i phone to the new verson 3.0 . i will see if that also fixed the static burst for my 2 g.

Still have the static burst after the software update to 3.0 with my iphone 2g

I guess there not going to fix it. I would want to make sure taht the new phone 3g s resolves this issue before I would buy it.

Are you guys talking about a buzz out of your speakers? If so that is caused by the GSM radio on all 2G GSM phones, nothing to do with the iPhone specifically.

Not true -- my GSM blackberry never makes a sound. It's the bluetooth module Apple used on the gen 1 and gen 2 phones. New module in the gen 3 (3GS).
