Default Buyer Jitters coming on strong!!!

I wanted to revisit this issue on 2002 vs. 2003 differences in price/features. I know about the change from dinner plates to TRD for the wheels. Besides that, is there any new news in differences in price and features?

I'm tempted to place my order soon thinking that it may be better to purchase a 2002 at the end of the model year before they jack up the price with little gain in the actual car. Also, I'm assuming interest rates could rise in the Fall. I can always buy new wheels later, like it appears most of you have done, and then really decide what I want for the money. If I do go to the dealership soon, should I look to see if the car was built after a certain date, to assume that the rear bushings and any other flaws detected so far had been corrected on the assembly line.

Don't you love all the rationalization that occurs when people are talking themselves into a car purchase?

Thanks.

Robert

Default Seasonal?

I dont know about the differences between 2002 and 2003 but at least in Northeast there are big differences in price during peak convertible season (Apr-Oct) and the "void". Many dealers were well below MSRP in Nov/Dec etc. You might find you can get a much better deal depending on how patient you are.

Of course, I'm not sure if you have an"off season" in the Lone Star State.

Lexus doesnt make many changes to their cars as evidenced by past models. As for the void here in North Jersey my dealer had every single one of their cars sold at MSRP pricing in those winter months. There is a very wealthy community in this area, but still...

Ok these are the supposed new wheels that Lexus will be using on the 2003 instead of the dinner plate specials.. TRD puts their name on it but its really a knockoff of the Lowenhart LD1 minus the lug cover.. Manaray would be able to tell you the background behind these wheels..

Take a peek..

Thanks for sharing the picture. It definitely looks nicer than the dinner plates, although I probably would prefer the silver finish over the chrome...

Thumbs down "ILLUSION", OR "CONFUSION"????

Originally posted by Toog4me: "you shouldnt wait any longer. IMO, even though I am a lexus fanatic, freak, etc..., I think you should take your money somewhere else and buy a diff. car. I also think thst the SC430 is overpriced, just like the SL, and just like the CLK.... It comes with a lot of goodies, but its not worth it... admit it, if the car didnt have the hardtop, would you buy it? In this case, your only buying the car for the hardtop... this is the way isee it... I think for 66k, there are a lot of better buys out there."

First you advise this aleady confused Buyer not to wait any longer... than you say that you think that he should take his money somewhere else, and buy a different car...........

I have over $74 K in my 2002 SC with some unique upgrades, and transitioned into it from a loaded '95 325 and a 01 330 BMW Convertible with Optional 75 lb. Hard Tops. The fact is, looking at what is out there for the Money for this Price Class, the SC 430 stands alone, among the competition.

You could learn this from a Side / Side Comparison of the Specs for this Class of Luxury / Performance Automobile, or you could Sense it from what your gut instincts would tell you, from driving this unique Ultimate Driving Machine for a 100 miles or so, on a leisurly weekend drive.

Certainly the 25 second 'Drop Hard Top' adds a great deal to the overall mystique and uniqueness to this Luxury Sport Car, plus the fact that it IS a LEXUS, and part of the genious TOYOTA Family of Quality Automobiles, SUV's, and Pick Ups, that are poised to knock the Mercedes- Chrysler Manufacturer our of 3rd Place in Sales!

Interesting that you would take time to knock the 2002 SC 430, based on your driving experiences of nearly a Four Year Old Model Coupe.

As the years roll by dude, you'll appreciate the wisdom of this old advice: "If you can't run with the Big Dogs, stay home on the porch, pooch!"
