i'd start with flushing the radiator and replacing the thermostat. does it only get hot while idling or does the car stay cool while moving?

If your going to change the thermostat then flush the system use a mixture of 50 % distiller water and white vinegar . Run engine till hot. Wait for it to cool then flush out vinegar and water mixture with more distilled water . Its cheap any supermarket sells it by the gallon for about 1.50. I use a product called Engine Ice as my year round antifreeze . It cost abouy 20.00 a 1/2 gallon. It comes all ready pre mixed . It really works great . Do a google search for engine ice . It contains no phosphates or silicates . Is reccomended for all aluminum engines and radiator parts . Wont hurt seals of gaskets and the most important thing. ThE ENGINE WILL RUN MUCH COOLER.

My two cents

Buddy

Hooray cl rocks again. It was the thermostat. I did the vinegar flush then changed the thermo. It took about an 1/2 hour. Removed the air-intake and it was smooth sailing. Thanks to everyone.
