SC430 could have been built as a genuine 2+2 by using bench front seat, with big folding armrest in the middle, and a SIDEWAYS rear seat. Get rid of the console, use dash lever or
buttons to control the transmission. Would really be a 3+1. Thirty years ago had a 1930s Bentley Van den Plas cabriolet with this arrangement, worked fine. Armrest was hollow with lid for storage. Shift lever was on the side, not in the middle.
And there ought to be a hard slideout tonneau cover to hide the stuff you pile up in the rear seat.

Don't believe there would even be room in the rear for a sideways backseat. It's mostly a nicely padded unlockable storage area.
It indeed would be nice to have a hard tonneau cover for this space.

Hmmmmm..I can't ever see that happening,
However a tonneau would be a great idea, not only would it clear up the rear seatbelt flutter it might look pretty good if you coloured matched the leather and all.....
