The top switch has never been changed in Japan.
You have good eyes as I wasn't aware that the US 09 has a different top switch till you had mentioned it.
Thanks for the compliment. Yeah the top switch is the only change in the interior for the USDM 09 car. Interesting how that new switch is not in the JDM car. I tried that new switch and I can't find any benefit of it, both in function and feel. It is one of those they change it just to make it different kinda thing, not really an upgrade

They need to make a red exterior PBE. I mean, they've done blue, black, brown, white, truffle gray, and silver; but never red.

They should make a Matador Red Mica SC430 with a Passionate Red Interior.

That would be hot!!!
+1 Philip, that car would fly off the lot, what a headturner!! Thanks for this terrific idea

I see no major change except some new colors, new wheels and puddle light under side mirrors.

Love the new wheels, any word on a push button start??

I just visited lexus.jp. The sight has been updated with the 2010, but truly the wheels are the only difference I can see. It doesn't make sense to me why they continue to keep teh 4.3 in the SC opposed to switching over to the 4.6 a couple years back.

I doubt that the 2010 SC430 will have anything new other than wheels. No push-button start, no iPod integration, no Nav upgrades, no parking sensors or back up cameras, etc. Just cosmetic changes. Any major technological changes to the SC will come with the next generation.

Because to engineer a car with the 460 engine, it would basically need a whole redesign of the car's chassis to handle the extra 100hp.

Might as well wait for the 3SC to make an SC460, SC500, or perhaps **gasp** an SC-F!!!

I am guessing the 8-speeds tranny is too big to fit in the SC's chassis, all 4.6 is mated to the 8-speeds so far. And the current 6-speeds probably can't handle an extra 100 hp.

According to my service advisor today at Park Place Dallas, he just talked with the Lexus rep who said that the SC430 2010 model will be the last model. After that Lexus only plans to have the low end hard top convertible (IS) and the high end (LF-A Roadster currently estimated at ~$400k).
Bummer.

The LF-A around 400k, is that official? How many will they sell each year?

2010 seems like a proper end if you believe in history repeating.

This last gen GS came with the 4.3 V8 and they switched to the 4.6 a few years ago, I'm pretty sure they didn't redesign the chassis. Plus almost all of the rear drive Lexus's are based on the old Supra and I doubt an extra 100hp is that much of a big deal for the chassis to handle.

Now I will say that our SC's are based on the older GS platform and the electronics are not up to date for the newer V8 but I think more than anything, Lexus doesn't want to spend a whole lot on the current platform as its seriously due to be replaced or dropped. I can't imagine how they can even sell a 2010 SC430 with it being so outdated and costing $60K +. I'm thinking I'll have a hard time selling my 02 for less than $20K.

But again Lexus really isn't making any sense, they'd rather sell an upscale Prius, ugly tail lights for the new IS and continue to put 18" wheels on the flagship LS.

And the update for the NSX was in 97 (new 3.2L engine, larger brakes, etc..) Type-o...

Yup. That's the main issue.

I think Lexus will sell about 800 SC430 for 2009 in the U.S. I doubt they'll sell more than 500 next year.

It's just not profitable to engineer anything new.

hipendicul, I agree, that new Prius-like Lexus is a real loser.
Looks cheap.

Well, then I'll just plan on picking up an LF-A for a measly $120,000 in 2018.
