Has anyone applied the product offered at the Lexus dealer for the nose of the car? It was priced to me at 799.00...and pays up to $1000.00 towards your deductible if your car is chipped by rocks, etc. I guess it is better than a nose bra, but I wondered if anyone had any expierence or comments about this product. Thanks for your time.

I had it installed on the hood, mirrors, and front of the fenders. It does not look bad. I have traded for a few SC's with over 10k miles and they have had significant stone chip damage. I believe this stuff will prevent almost all of that. I did not receive any guarantee on it. I believe that it can also be purchased outside the dealership.

Vicky,
I got www.xpel.com installed on my Silver SC430 and from past experience with our Blue GS400 I wish I had it done to that vehicle too.. Especially on dark coloured cars like your Indigo the Xpel will be the wisest modification you get done to your car especially if you intend to keep it long term.. If its just a 2 or 3 year lease I wouldn't bother.. Check out that website for Xpel and it should answer all your questions.. Also be sure to read the FAQ for additional info..

Marty,
When you step 2 steps away from the bumper you can't even see the seem on the hood.. I've taken a few pics but you can't see the darn thing.. Xpel or Stoneguard are the two most popular suppliers that the Lexus dealers I know are using.. Best I can tell you is to go to a few dealerships and most likely they will have a vehicle with it on for viewing purposes.. Hope that helps.. I'll try to take some larger resolution pictures to see if you can see the seam and post them in the gallery for you.. Hope that helps for now!

Vicky,
I had expel installed on my car about 3 weeks ago at an outside source, cost was $750 for a complete kit, hood, front trim, mirrors, lights. They said it would take 4-5 hours, actually took around 8, don't think they estimated the difficulty with the sc.
All in all I'd say I am pleased, they said that it would need to sit in the sun for 30 days for all the fine bubbles to work out, it hasn't been that sunny in Dallas for the last few weeks so I am waiting for a final opinion, but overall I think it looks very good, much better than a black bra. As the owner you will notice it, everyone else dosen't know it is there. As I only had the Indigo car a couple of weeks and already saw some stone chips, something had to be done.
The place that installed it offered a lifetime guarantee on the labor and 5 years on materials, I will need to go back for a bit of minor edge work, but I am waiting to give things a chance to set up as they requested. Since installing it I have not seen a single chip or scratch so I would definitely put in a recommendation for having this done.
Hope this helps and have fun in your new car.

Thanks so much to each of you for your input. This is a great site for a new Lexus owner. How do you become a paid member and what is the cost?
Thankfully,
Vicky

Hi,
I have just had xpel installed recently (hood, lights, front nose) for $625 installed (I negotiated to have labor included free.) I'm waiting for a few of the leftover bubbles from the solution to dissipate before giving a final opinion. The installer uses a soapy solution to position and center the film, then squirts an alcohol solution underneath to make it stick.
But it does look good, except for a few clothes fibers that got trapped underneath (a picky criticism). Took the installer a little under 4 hours.

CEboyd,
Just curious. Is yours the Xpel brandname also? The installer got the price of materials ($625) directly from the www.xpel.com website when I went in.

Wow, I guess I did get a very good price. Actually, I think it would have been a good deal even if I had to pay $100 for the installation. I wished him struggle with positioning it on for a little while. It was a nerve-wracking, getting the stuff to not stick when you are positioning it, then trying to get it to stick when you have it in place...

You're right. I would have given up too if I had to install it myself... That headlight film is super thick. (40mils, I think?) The installer complained a little about this also; very hard to get to lay down on the very curvey headlight cover.
