Well it was in the 90's here in North Jersey today...actually saw two SC's which I never see while I am driving my car. One had the top up, I was like huh???
I have come to notice that the temperature gauge inside the car is subject to very high numbers and while driving those numbers dont really drop off. Anyone have similar findings? I understand if I am parked and drive away the gauge will be very high, but it doesnt seem to drop off very quickly.

I've found that the outside temp is about 4 degrees over what they say on the radio. Of course it can vary in metro areas, and I don't think I ever saw it go down into the 20s this past winter.
And yes, it does get cold in North Texas...

The numbers won't drop when you're parked versus when you drive. The thermometer is just like any other type......it's affected by air temp and not air movement. Surface temperature is only affected by moisture (in most cases, hence "wind chill factors") and in other cases by surface absorption and reflection (white surfaces versus black).
I doubt this answers your question, but it gave me the opportunity to use some knowledge I learned in school that at one time I thought useless !

I never understood how a car could get the outside temp. while the car is moving, because there is wind, etc... its just one of those marvelous inventions of the 21st century even though theyve been around for like 2000000 years.

My temp read 100 when I got back in the car today...I just could not put the top down, I was dripping. I drove for 20 minutes with the AC on full power, something i never do...not that long on full anyway....man was it hot.
Toog, you still here? look up one post for the answer to your question. LOL
Larry I know what you mean, but it seems to drop when I am not moving rather then while I am moving, thats why it makes no sense. I dont know if the temp gauge is inside the car and subtracts the ambient temp from the cars interior temp or whatever, so basically i dont know.... Just know that it was not 100 here today, close to it though.
