Default Should I switch???

I have an 06 IS 350, slightly modded, and I love my car. Problem is that I've run into an 02 SC430, mint condition, with 23K miles on it. I'm on the fence between keeping my IS or jumping to the SC. I love the technology in the IS...I have a ML DVD system, bluetooth, NAVI, but the SC is in a league of it's own. One question I have, and a very important one, is... I have a 7 month old. She would have to ride in the back...fine. With the passenger seat all the way up, do baby seats fit in the back? I have to have the IS seat all the way up as it is, and my wife NEVER is with me in the car. If we all go out we use her 4runner, so the front seat isn't an issue. I just need to know if it will fit in the back at all.

Any pros/cons would be greatly appreciated!!!

When she grows legs the rear seat will be useless.

Keep the IS

when she grows legs then she can sit up front! I'd love to have both, but the wife wants her 4Runner and there's no changing her mind. She's not a car girl at all

Default Booster

My 4 year old (95 percentile in height) sits just fine in a booster. With the front all the way up you shouldn't have issues with an infant seat, but best bet is take your seat with you for the test drive.

If you have a 4Runner too then go ahead and get the SC!! You can always use the 4Runner if you need more room. You can certainly fit a baby seat in the rear with the passenger seat all the way up. If you want, go and try out the baby seat in the car before you decide to buy. Totally agree that the SC is in a league of its own. Nice to hear every so often. Hope you'll be able to join the SC family soon. GL with your decision!

+1 robsvdp

Over and over again, the people in this forum say that the back seat is useless. That has not been my experience at all. I drive my two kids all the time (one in the front and one in the back) and to this day the younger one has never even commented about the backseat being small. Of course, it probably helps that the kids at school always say, "COOL CAR!!!"

My four year old is 95th percentile for height as well and is 45" tall and fits great in his booster, seat doesn't have to be "all" the way up, but it is pushed up.

No problem at all!!! When he is six or whatever the law is, he will graduate to the front.

The SC is two cars in one...maybe three now that I know how to manually shift with the c-gate!!! he he...

The law just switched to 8 years old, or 4'9". So he'll probably meet the height requirement before you know it since he's so big for his age. He's only got a foot to grow.

Here's what I just Googled on the subject....

• Children 8 and older, regardless of height, will not be required to sit in a booster seat or car seat and may simply buckle up using the car's belts.

• Children younger than 8 — but 4-foot-9 or taller — also will not be required to use a booster or car seat.

The SC will ride 1 adult (driving) and 2 kids (passenger front/back) seats fine. Only issue is the wind in the back seat.

For a family, the SC really works best as a 3rd car.

With a baby carrier or big booster seat you won't have much room for the front passenger, although it is probably doable.

My suggestion is to go look at the car, put your baby seat and everything in it, then take it for a drive and see how it works out.

During EOS, Allen and Ben fit as two passengers in the car with the top up.

Tight, but doable.

A car seat will fit just fine...

Oh, and BTW, I was also a former IS350 owner.

Yes. Both Allen and Ben are about 5'9".

I have to find an instructional video that I recorded.

It's me (5'10" and 210 lbs) positioning myself into the back seat.

It's actually quite hilarious...
