What's the problem with flying in to pick up the car and driving home? A nice couple thousand mile drive in your new ride sounds like fun to me. Isn't that why we bought these cars?

Scdroptop: What I meant was black/saddle as my 1st, then black/ecru (2nd), I was looking at the Lexus’ website for the 09 SC model, that’s why I had the camel down. But I agree with you, http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false would be my first pick. Do you think I get it down to $16.5 or $17K? If possible, can you take a look at the car in person for me?
As for your four other choices: I hate modified wheels so I would not get http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false. The 108K miles vehicle has too much miles and SD is too far to drive back (26 hours). Arizona, I saw it on eBay and they wouldn’t even have it down to $18.5K, so I figured with the price and the distance it was not worth it. And last link, no longer works.

Tfeni52355: I would love to drive the car back, however, this time in MN it could be a toss up, we had snow yesterday . Plus, Texas is doable, but CA, FL, AZ are just too far to drive alone. I would need another driver and that gonna cost us more.

I am having a car shipped from CA to TX for $599 on a one car Lexus Flatbed truck the entire way with a car cover on it. What is your time worth? I have often said, "yeah, I'll drive it back", but the older I get the more valuable my time! Just like changing the oil, spark plugs, etc on these cars. I just don't have the time I used to.

Here is the service history on the Plano, Tx black on ecru 2002 for $17k...some ?'s on where they heck they have serviced this car for the past four to five years? mmmmm

Apparently not at lexus. Good news is that it is a Local Texas car and appears to have been serviced half of its life at the local Plano dealer. I would ask for the car fax and maint history if they have it for sure before you move forward. IMHO a car is worth $2k or even more with the same mileage/year if it has been taken care of better. Some things you can't reverse, you know.

I emailed them and offered $16.5K and they didn't bother to call me back or counter. Thanks for all the service records though. But I was wondering the same too, how rigorous was the maintenance in these past 4 years since there were no records whatsoever. I think I'm gonna skip this one given the price/distance/and not so great service record. I will continue to look for my black/saddle or black/tan dream, still have about 4-5 months left though, it's getting cold here now, so no rush

you know I thought the same as you and crossed off many cars on my list when I would e-mail them an actual offer and they didn't even respond---crazy in this economy too, isn't it? I mean, you pay money to list your car, someone takes the time to research it and you can see they are from out of town (motivated buyer) and you still don't respond? Absurd! I agree...move on. If they respond back let me know. this one if very close

Hey Harold, I check the 40 or so Sc430's on Ebay everyday, it's a hobby and in the last year I've spotted three that my friends eventually purchased. All were TX and FL cars.

I have to admit that I still check out the market occasionally too, though, I do try to avoid that after I've purchased an item. It sets me up for disappointment when I find something "better". Of course, I tend to use the buy and hold method on cars also. I definitely intend on doing that with the SC430 as long as it reasonably holds up.

Happened to be trolling, trying to decide on SC430 now or a LS430 winter then sc430 summer, anyway I am in Dallas and have looked at the Plano Black Ecru, it is in below average condition and it is at a dealer, they won't be budging off that price.

A lot of times PP and Sewell take cars in as "favors" of loyal repeat customers to give them the best trade in and then they are stuck in those cars and look to sell at their dealership so they can at least make some money on a CPO, finance or other aspects of the car before they totally take a bath on it and send to a wholesaler or auction it.

Sewell has been sitting on a HONEY (kidding) of a 2004 red/ecru with 55k miles that has been in the body shop for over a month now and had damage all over, dog stains and tore up interior, terrible maint history and stunk inside...had this baby for $30,500 and also CPO!!! Amazing....lol they may be laughing even more than us, because they might have given the previous owner $15k for the trade! lol

LexusinTex, did you say you have looked at the black/ecru in Plano and it was below average? What did you see there? Some scratches and tear and wear? Any smell? Anyway, they have lowered the price to $16.9K now, but the maintenance records still a mystery. Any taker?

Have you called them yet? Perhaps maint has been done but at a Toyota dealer or reputable service shop. We have a place in town called Davenport Motors and some others that are Lexus-wannabe shops that do GREAT work but don't report to the Lexus Dealer Service network. They even offer loaner cars (not lexus) and honor all warranty.

Ask for any out-of-lexus dealer maint records and bring to their attention you are concerned with no maint on a $65k new luxury car that hasn't been properly maintained and tell them that the 60k service is $3k and timing belt/water pump, brakes, tires, etc all need to be redone and beat them down to $15k...then drive it like you stole it and get all that stuff done for $1500!!!

You are not going to get a better mileage, better color combination, southern car for that price. We looked for you...

I can look at this car too. Let me know after you talk to them and if you still are serious I'd be glad to go by for you. I live within 3 miles of this...just need to set up appointment and physically go see it.

scdroptop, called them and offered $15K for the same reasons you provided me, they declined. I guess $15K is a bit low? But $16K would be the most I'd pay for this vehicle since they could not provide me any records (I asked them) outside of Lexus' in the past 4 years. All they said was it's in great condition, yeah, even a 3 year-old kid knows how to say that...I need something concrete here.
