Go to a Toyota dealer and tell them what the problem is, get a quote, probably $600. Good Luck

thanks for the replies, I will definitely ask Toyota dealership for a fix. also, the main symptoms was that I was getting a slight vibration on the steering wheel when going 55-60mph. When I had my tires rotated a month ago, they check my front axles' and they Lexus technitian said that the Front Right had a little "slop" play in there....?

How many miles are on your 2005? Ball joints wearing out in such a short amount of time is unusual. My favorite line from a dealer is "your brakes are wearing out". Yes, aren't they all from the moment you first use them. Those brakes lasted another 2 years before they wore down to 1 mm and needed replacement. If your car has average miles then I'd sure take a look at your tires before ball joints. Regards!

I just had this done, except i had to replace both the upper ball joints (is part of upper control arm) and lower ball joints. From the dealership, the upper ball joints/control arm is roughly $515 and lower ball joints are $115. I highly doubt $400 for labor is fair, but it is a dealer.

I did find OEM parts from Toyolexparts.com. In the end I paid $700 for both upper and lower, passenger and driver side ball joints (would have cost $1260 plus tax at dealer). Parts were OEM. My mechanic installed it for $312 and said it took 3 hrs.

Hope this helps.

Are aftermarket ones just as good?

to: 02Ku

I'm going to order the parts from ToyoLexParts.com aftermarket.

$180.00 Left front upper control arm and ball joint
$160.00 Left and Right Lower control arms

my question is, are all the parts there for the dealer to install the
aftermarket ball joints and control arms? to clarify, do I have to pay
misacellaneous fee's? (ie.... extra bolts, shims....etc....)??????
is everthing included? thanks

p.s. the labor with the alignment is exactly $420.00 at the Lexus dealership.

rclab1 - The parts I purchased from Toyolex were OEM, not aftermarket. I was hesitant to purchase anything aftermarket, especially as the ball joints are key components to your suspension.

I also, have no idea if the dealer will charge you more. I took mine to my local mechanic (also a good friend).

Hope that helps.

(sorry for the delayed response)
