I recently purchased a used sc430. The case that embodied both keys that came with the car were cracked. Because the keyless remote unit was fine, I decided to purchase one of those flip keys (VW style) from ebay that you swap out. The dealer charges a pretty penny - $200 to just cut the key. Does anyone know of a place that I can cut a lexus key in Los Angeles that will charge less?

If you live on the west side, here is the best place to go:

Bundy's Lock and Safe Co. Inc., is located at 1533 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles, CA and is now celebrating their 78th Anniversary. They are located 1/2 block north of Santa Monica Blvd on Sawtelle.

I took them one of my keys and a blank I bought on Ebay and I think I paid about 25 dollars. It took about 10 minutes while I waited.

UPDATE:

I recently went to them to have a key made for a used Lexus ES300 trunk lock bought on Ebay and they sent me to:

Santa Monica, CA 90405

It cost me $110. and they replaced tumblers/springs, reset the lock to work with the ignition key and cut two keys, one was a new blank I had also bought on Ebay. They said they did work all the time for the local Lexus dealer.

Thanks, that's really close to me. $25 seems like a lot to cut a key, but it's better than a dealer.
