Rant and rave again
Feel free to not get into this again.
As it has been discussed AT LENGTH in
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=43774
car magazines are very biased.
Now it's Motor Trend's turn.
Just wanted to express my ire at:
http://www.motortrend.com/april02/summer/summer_f.html
It seems that the "10 Hot Convertibles For Summer" is missing something, and includes some clear insults in comparison:
Chrysler Sebring Convertible
Mercedes-Benz SL500 (at $83,000?!)
...and PLENTY of others.
My ONLY comment -- SHEEZ!
Thank you.
Push a button, drop your top, and smoke 'em all.

MOTORTREND MANIA
In it's Price / Model Class, SC-430 RULES -period!
My past experience with these "German Prone" Pencil-Pushers, is that they may NOT in fact, be the "Sharpest Pencils in the Box", but they tend to stand on their Religious Pedestals, when you try to simply present them with the facts.
The other day, one Automotive Editor was heard telling his Staff of Writers, that he was still convinced that 'Joan Of Arc', was actually 'Noah's Wife'!
Enough to make a Saint Swear.
:eek:

"BLUE OVAL BOYS"
Why is it that a lot of these Automotive writers seem to fawn over Ford Products so much, particularly their Trucks? Since Mazda is now part of their "Blue Oval" Family, the Miata has continued to be chosen over more competitive values.
Case in point - in the June Issue of Car & Driver, of the 12 Featured Automobiles under "Road Tests":
(1) Cover Story given to the 2003 FORD SVT Mustang Cobra;
(2) In the Comparison Test of 'Six Small Boxes', the MAZDA
Protege'5, was chosen as Best;
(3) FOUR Pages were given the the 2003 Lincoln Navigator;
(4) The 2003 Mazda 626 is Show Cased;
(5) The Mazda MPV ES 5-Door Wagon is Show Cased;
INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW:
Have the International Figure Skating Judging Community
sugued into the Automotive Literary Community?
Will the PEUGOT be the next to selected into the Top Ten?
Frustrated In Fishers!"

Lexus Fanatic
it is no secret that Car and Driver for whatever reason prefer "german flavor" and Motortrend favors "american pies"...hey i like cars, german, american, japanese, korean, as much as next car dude...so long as any model provides total ownership satisfaction...but often many of these car guys at the mag office either forget or choose to ignore the important factor of "total ownership experience" for any car...that is just wrong man...:eek: we should ask the mag editors to do a 3-5 year "test drive" and give the public how they feel about the car...honestly
SL500 is a solid car, it ha to be at $85k...but is the SC430 not worthy of a place in their "list"? anyone ever wonder if lexus is selling a $85k+ car..what kind of "value" one would be getting?
lexus and toyota is world renowned for offering excellent valued automotive products that ones hard earned money can buy...that is the bottomline....oh, did i mention quality products?

Anyone knows that all German made cars are much more advanced technologicaly. I had an Audi years ago that refused to start when it was raining out or the temp dropped below 32 degrees. As you all know this was an excellent safety feature as it kept me off the roads when driving conditions were not ideal.
On the other hand, my 74 Toyota used to start no matter what and was able to drive through puddles at 40 miles an hour. It forced me to drive when the road conditions were quite poor. I never had the joy of calling a tow truck and waiting in a bad neighborhood for it to arrive.
Additionally, the maintenance on the Toyota was terrible for the economy....I can't imagine the poor folks that suffered because I rarely had to tune it, fix it or even change the oil for that matter. On the other hand the Audi did much to boost the GNP via the expensive upkeep and kept many a mechanic in business.
In summation, I found the Toyota to be to reliable for my taste and found the Audi to be a true mechanics dream !
Hey, I should get a job writing for Motor Trend !
