Larry - some people have speculated that Lexus will be phasing out the 2JZ-GTE in favor of a new 3.3 liter motor (V6 most likely...)...hence the "330" designation...
We'll just have to wait and see...the Lexus techs at the meet couldn't tell us diddly...well, they could, but then Lexus would have to kill them...

Since the G35 coupe will be 275+ horses with a V6 I am not sure how Lexus would compete with their own V6 if they made one. That is so close to their current V8 model (25 hp under) I do not see them putting one together at this point for some reason. But then again the original SC400 and SC300 where only 25 HP apart, 250 and 225 respectively.
I would like to see a SC300 with the good old 2JZ-GTE and a 6spd Getrag manual transmission standard. These would sell better than the SC430 I think. But this would be more a myth than the Yeti.

Sorry Yeti....I just dunno about this. There is no 2-door lexus coupe which is odd, but Lexus doesnt much care...as long as they are selling their other models like hot cakes. I dont know though, that 2JZ engine is bullet proof, one of the finest engines ever created, that 3.5 liter engine from nissan is what they put in the Altima. It seems like the car companies they arent very successful make big powerful engines and dumb little features to sell their cars. Toyota has never been one to go out and add lots of powers just because someone else does. The Altima is supposed to compete with the Camry, but do you think Toyota is running around like a chicken with its head cut off? No they dont care about its power. Plus their entire model of cars is based on 3.0 liter engine...if it aint broke dont try to fix it. My friend actually has one of those new altimas and his engine went after like 3-4 months. That is the risk of introducing a new engine. Maybe they can refine it, afterall the 2JZ is iron, but it held my supras 465hp without breaking a sweat. I do think Lexus needs a 2 door coupe, in the 30-40k range. Sorry this is so long, just my 2 cents, hopefully others will put theirs in as well

ok guys...after the meeting with my VP/GM at the dealership, i was informed that there will be a 3.3L(V-6 or I-6) available next year to power the all new RX...AND there will be an SC330...most likely that 3.3L will be at the heart of the next GS330...as far as power rating, we will have to wait and see....
on the hp issue/war between car co...while it is true that infiniti and nissan has lately put together great cars with excellent value, and i am actually considering the G35 when my babe's accord v6's lease expire in 2 years. but, when it comes to real world driving, as tested by various car mags, lexus 4.3 can still hang with infiniti's 340 hp Q45 with no sweat...
as lexussc430 said, camry is still selling like hot cakes and brownies at a jenny craig convnetion...but i do give props to nissan's top guns for bringing more exciting products to the US for car dude like myself.....just waiting to see the all new skyline GT-R to grace the long beach shore.....perhaps my garage..
