Default Experience with Yokohama S Drive 245/40R-18XL97YB Z rated?

I have finally boiled down my experience with the Eagle GT's on my Sc...they have a serious flat-spotting problem when it sits overnight...for the first 10 miles of driving, steering wheel will shake, and you feel vibration from ALL 4 tires. Then...it gets better, but the response and feel of the tires it what I call "heavy"...still no response from DT on replacement (corporate)..but this is the car I always wanted, and it just does not feel like other SC's I have driven...and is in pristeen shape. After much research, have decided on replacing the tires (only 3400mi on them...and 1 new )with these Yokahamas..but need your experience and input...Thanks again, Bob...PS, DT has a 50.00 discount tomorrow (Black Friday)..and will sell the GT's on Craigslist...

I just got some Yokohama S drives for my SC (1st gen however). Previously i had on Toyo T1r's. The Toyo's used to be my favorite tire because of how quiet they were, how well they handled in dry and wet conditions, and their tread wear. Right off the bat i noticed the Yokohama's were just as quiet and rode just as nice as my Toyo's, if not better. I haven't really put the tires to the test, but based on my experience so far and other peoples recommendations of these tires to me, they are great tires and cheaper than Toyo's.

Oh man! The pressure is on Bob! I hope they work out! I'd feel terrible if they didn't. I read all the reviews on www.tires.com and hundreds of people gave them 4.5/5 stars that had sporty luxury cars like ours. LOL when I researched the Eagles three years ago and considered them, I remember reading reviews from people that owned Grand AMs and Bonnevilles, etc and I thought to myself, "are these the right tires for my car"?

Reminds me of back in 1998 when I took everyone I knew to PF Changs for "Chinese Food" and was nervous they wouldn't like it! LOL Luckily for me, everyone did!

Good luck. Keep us posted.

He's having second thoughts.. thinks it's too much money..

Not going to let him get away with not getting those tires!

If he does not buy them, the SC will be up for sale and I will be out of a car!!

Default Yoko's are smooth as silk!

Finally got the right combo..these tires are wonderful! Smooth and very quiet..

Thanks to everyone who expressed their thoughts ..and the best part is, while at the store, one of the guys bought the Eagle GT's from us! Win-win all the way!

Sharp looking car and tires. I'm glad you finally got it resolved along with selling the Eagle GTs. Enjoy!

congrats on the new tire purchase. I recently purchased the same set, cant wait to get them installed. quick question, did you make any adjustments to the alignment? Ive been told that taking out as much negative camber as possible really helps with getting even wear on the tires. anyways, glad to hear u seems to be enjoying ur new Yokahamas. happy holidays.

Default Yokohamas

Dag, did not have aligned, as car tracks straight as an arrow...and no wear patters on the tires I replaced. The S tires are great in every way...ride comfort, handling, and noise level. However, looks like I will need to go back to the tire store and have them re-balanced...have a vibration problem that sure feels like a balance (and not tire problem)...will keep you posted. Bob
