It may be low mileage but replacing the timing belt is not just mileage dependent but also time dependent. It is 90kmi or 6 years. His car has passed the 6 year point.

Default Update

Brought my car into Ray Catena Lexus for a well check. They inspected the car for safety issues, looked at the motor mounts, and all checked out ok. The service rep said that they arent going to look for problems beyond safety issues but if I could mention something specifically they would address it.

Also just ordered a couple of blank keys from ebay so that I could have 2 spares.

Best,

Jack

Lexus keys have transponders built into them. The theft deterrent immobilization system only recognizes a total of four keys for the car. Those are typically two masters, one valet and one wallet key. Adding "new" keys you must programmatically delete existing keys from the ECU, or take the keys apart carefully and move the transponder into the newly cut key. There are a few other threads regarding programming a key.
