I replaced the rotors of my 06 SC430 with Brembo OE replacements for $68 for the front and $48 for the rear each from the Tire Rack. My originals were warped and I didn't have confidence in getting new rotors from Lexus which were more than double the price and easily warp. So far so good with the Brembo's using Lexus pads. Will keep you posted!

ual320jet,
You may want to do some research on the drilled and slotted rotors before jumping in. They can be noisy when the brakes are applied. My son has them on his Dodge Neon and he said he would not get them again. Very noisy when brakes applied at highway speed.
I think the answer to one question tells all you need to know: If drilled and slotted rotors are so good, how come Formula One, Nascar and all the other top racing circuits don't use them?
Brembo states that you should not use drilled and slotted rotors in track like conditions. Meaning any high stress braking can cause issues with them cracking.
Good Luck with your choice!

I have slotted and rilled R1 rotors and posi quiet pads . They are noisy [ Top Down ]
I bought them because I did not like those black ugly oem rotors as viewed through my chrome staggered wheels. Since I have no plan to race They look good to me and I would say the stopping power is better . Not sure how you measure oem VS what I have on. I bought the premuim rotors from the ebay vendor R1

Agree, the drilled rotors are mainly for looks. When it's time for me to change out, I'll probably go with the solid rotors like the OP's here - I prefer the OEM like quietness. Good to see someone tried something other than OEM and gave us some good feedback.

lol... part of the reason i went with a full-face wheel is i didn't want to spend another $1000+ on a bbk or slotted rotors and new calipers. which i think is essential if you go with an open face design. stock brakes are an eye sore in my opinion. that said, i was planning on getting slotted or drilled rotors for better performance when i do my brakes. but now that i read this, the noise issue has turned me off from that idea.

You know I had the exact same thoughts.... just spent some cash getting my new chrome plated tourmalines. That's when I discovered the "nasty" looking brake calipers nicely hidden behind the pie plate wheel covers. I too was thinking of new drilled rotors but the thought of noisy brakes has killed that idea. So, as I posted in another thread I'm waffling between painting the calipers or, going with caliper covers. Not the glue on ones mind you, no machined custom made one and then adding the Lexus badging. The process has begun and I'll post photos in the other thread after they're installed after the holidays.

The noise I speak of is a scraping noise low speed braking with top down. If you are in slow moving traffic with the top down you will hear the slight scraping. Its not like the old dirty drums brakes would sound " squeak squeak ". When the top is up i dont notice the noise at all. Its there but I can only hear it top down. The open wheel looks great and I just put on red lexus decals on all of the calipers. It adds a nice touch with out looking cheesy.

I've had drilled & slotted, drilled, and now just slotted. The slotted rotors are much quieter than the drilled, though there's still a hushed 'whooshing' sound when I apply the brakes. I don't notice it anymore, but I'm sure anyone switching to these from OEM would notice it immediately.

MrBlister,
Where did you get the Lexus decals for the calipers? Would love to add them when I change the rotors and pads on my wife's SC. Just put the 20's on it shown here.
VVTiBob,
Agree. Things are ugly hiding behind the stock wheel setup.

I did not know about the noise from drilled rotors! I put them on a Mercedes E320 and never noticed. I did not drive with the windows down much! They were Brembo and looked and worked great though.
