Red face Lexus SC430 Engine Blown

WOW! What luck!
Bought the car out right used with 29,000 miles on it.
Put some miles on it, couple years went by.

Ended up losing my job, and my engine blew.
Oil pump failed on the vehicle 2,000 miles out of warranty.

Don't know where I am supposed to pick up a lexus sc430 engine. Haveing a REALLY hard time finding one.

Anyone have any ideas?

Wow! I am very sorry to hear about your bad luck. First of all, Lexus is known for their outstanding service. I would take it to a dealer ASAP. Where in CA are you? Bob Baker in SD is outstanding if you are down there. Do you have any dealer relationships?

I would lay it all out, see if you can Lexus to honor it.

Lexus has a customer satisfaction number on their website. I would also recommending e-mailing them ASAP. Go to www.lexus.com I would start working Lexus satisfaction at the same time as the dealer. Many times the dealer may communicate with their regional sales office/service office and comp warranty work or offer to pay for half. I have had several experiences with Lexus honoring out of warranty work. 2k is not that much. What year is your car? Can you give us some more details?

I wouldn't assume you have to buy an engine outright as of yet. Sit tight...take a deep breath. It will be ok.

Worst case scenario-there are some on eBay I've seen from time to time ranging from $2700-$4k depending on the mileage, year etc. There are some on there now.

do yourself a favor, check out the sc430 classifieds. a guy is selling a built motor that i was very interested in. i might be shooting myself in the foot, but you need it more than me.
also, remember usedcarparts.com or whatever. the engine was ina few cars, so a totalled gs or ls will have this motor.
never fear though bro, they are out there.
good luck, ok?

jcaliguy,
when was your last scheduled lexus dealer maintenance?
I bet you could argue that something like a bad oil pump
should have discovered within your warranty.
fingers crossed for you.

Shouldn't their be signs of an oil pump going bad? It scares me to think that I may be driving one day and all of a sudden my engine fails due to the pump and now the whole engine is messed up from lack of lubricant.

it would be very tough to dx after the fact. But that stated it is not a common issue with these motors.

I know guys, I sat there and argued with Newport Lexus, I even had my local lexus guy look at the oil pump and he sees the fail, but he also has changed my oil now and again when I wasn't able to get to the dealer ship. He told me he never saw signs of a oil pump fail but when he examined it after he sees the issue with the oil pump. I talked to a dealership and they told me they could apply because its so close to warranty. I am still awaiting to hear from that. I am thinking I am out of luck on this one. Maybe I should start a lexus SC430 repair foundation hahaha $1.00 from 5,000 lexus owners would get me back on the road. Its to bad because it has rims, nice tires, new brakes, just had it detailed too..

be positive...you never know--I think it's a good sign they are checking for you. Have you tried to contact Lexus customer service? Try via e-mail as well.
