Default Local Pricing for non-DIY'ers for Fog Lights and 168 bulb and spark plug replacement

I know several times a month we have some discussions about bulb replacement, upgrading fog lights, dropping bumper and wheel liner as well as spark plug replacement so I thought I'd share some local pricing with you all from Dallas.

Drop bumper, replace fog lights and 168 bulbs (02-05 only) $160 labor + your choice of bulbs. I am going with LED fogs and 168's.

Spark Plugs-labor only $225. Well worth it to me!

I know many of you have contemplated DIY on these replacement parts and upgrades. Based on the time it appears to take on both, I think it is well worh it...

FYI quote was from Davenport Motors in Plano, Tx. They are factory certified Lexus repair shop and usually cheaper than dealers. I am going to check with Toyota and Lexus shops next. Also found out $800 to replace springs (labor only) for tanabe lowering springs.

FYI to all

i'd ask for shop recommendations in your local forum. the spark plugs and springs are insane. about 3-4 times reasonable.

Labor for spark plugs was $225? My local toyota dealer did mine for $150 + plugs and I thought I was getting robbed!

I guess that is why I became a DIY'er the price that shops charge for labor, and the price that Lexus mods cost, I couldn't afford to pay to have the parts installed after buying them. So I just taught myself how to work on it without any manuals or instructions. Just a floor jack and some hand tools in my garage. I can't believe $800 for springs ouch labor only. I haven't had to do plugs yet but I will tackle those myself when the time comes they can't take more than 20 minutes to change they are all visible and easily reachable.

But if you have the time you can save yourself the money doing the Fog lights that is a fairly easy job just sounds scary taking the bumper off. I have had mine off a few times now. Actually one of my hid foglight bulbs went bad 2 weeks ago after about 1yr of use. I had the bumper off, bulb changed and back on again in about 30 minutes. I don't remove any inner fender liners either. I just remove the plastic shield under the engine probaly about 20 bolts. Then there is enough flex to move the fender liner to the side by hand to gice you access to the 10mm bolt under the fender at the corner of the bumper acutally its 2 bolts since you have to do both sides. After that you have to remove the grille held by a couple 10 mm bolt and then there are 4 plastic push connectors that are all that hold the the bumper on. Remove those and then pull the bumper forward and drop it down. I lay towels on the ground and drop the bumper down to the floor so I don't have to remove any washer fluid lines and deal with fluid clean up otherwise they come off easily. I work on the fog lights and then put it all back together. The easy part is all the bolts are 10mm so I have a small drill with the socket on the end so it comes apart and goes back together really fast.
With the money you save on the labor you can buy and install an HID fog light kit that matches your HID headlights like mine does now and have money left over.
