black tint would look good. but it's illegal, so you run the risk of a fix-it ticket. i did red tint on mine. it's subtle. but it's a big improvement over the old school amber. it's a darker, richer shade of red than the stock red. here's a crappy cell phone pic to give you an idea.
clear would probably require custom fabrication. not sure who would even be able to pull that off. also, the top half of the taillight would probably present a problem if you went clear. It's just a reflector, so I'm not sure what you would put there if you did build a clear cover for the lower half.

it's a cheap mod. i paid something like $20 for the tint and $30 to have it installed. you could probably do it yourself. but it was worth it to me after watching him trying to get all the bubbles out.

I did just red tint on my tails. It looks MUCH cleaner and is a much cheaper alternative to the 06+ tail upgrade. I did mine on my own and it only cost me $10 (the red tint film). It looks very "Porsche" now. haha.

ok so check this out...
here is a flaw in my idea. i wanted to cut out the turn signal and use a cleaner look. so i opted for a 3" projector and retro fit the lens to the housing. it was a pain, but i like the final look. worth the time and effort.... however....
the idea of the rippled effect over a turn signal is to diffuse the light. a PROJECTOR a-m-p-l-i-f-i-e-s the light. the result is now my turn signal shines light... on everything.
there is video if it works
enjoy..
