Hope you know what your getting into on an older Ferrari with maintenance. There are a few neighbors around me who tend to sell their exotics as soon as the warranty is up due to how finicky they can be. Lots of money to maintain the older ones.

I have to agree with that - there's always compromises.

Instead of a cushy ride, you fell every bump in the road. On the other hand, you can easily corner at speeds that the SC430 would flip over

Instead of smooth acceleration, you get head snapping gear shifts

Instead of easily driving a car at it's potential, you need an instructor to help you drive the car at it's potential...wearing a helmet, on a track

You both have beautiful cars, enjoy them.

The Ferrari is actually not quite as quick as the SC430. Straight line perfomance only. Hard to believe the SC430 came out eight years after your car was built. But at 16 years old it would still snap my neck to get a look at it on the road. Took a look on ebay and even the interior is modern looking.

The Porsche while not as eye catching, would be my pick if the kids get scholarships. I think the only reason I love the look of the SC430 so much is if I squint just right, they look similar.

Thank you for the compliment.

I don't understand the "not as quick" comment. Flyguys Ferrari is at least 1000 lbs. lighter(my guess is it's ~3,000 lbs.), than the SC430, and with a stock motor in it has 40-50 HP more than the SC430. Together, that's the equivalent of an SC430 with 450HP to get the same performance as his Ferrari, in a straight line, as you say.
Cornering, well, that not a fair fight either.
But, I do hope your kids get scholarships

I read an article reviewing the Ferrari by consumers guide, stating that they could not repoduce the claimed 0-60 of 5.6 seconds claimed by Ferrari. Web reports put it at about 6 seconds. The SC430, an automatic is more consistent, since the auto tranny requires less skill. It is rated 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. Of course only as accurate as the magazines.
