Not when we're talking about a Lexus SC430

Any opinions anyone?
I changed the woofers in the front but left the drivers and tweeters alone. They work together fine and sound is great.

The Dayton's have nice specs. for the $$. Just watch the mounting depth for window clearance.

What's the deepest do think I can go?
So far, I've read "about 3 inches".
A little vague.

Default Found These

I found these on ebay. I have no idea if they will work, but they're thin and I think kicker is a decent brand? And I don't know if the link will work or not, so here's what to search for
Kicker CVT65 6.5" Subwoofer Single 2 Ohm 150 Watts (10CVT65-2)

Sorry, no Kickers.
None of my friends recommend it.
.. and 2-ohms means buying another amp.

With $100 as your limit, you really don't have much to go with. Yes, OK, I did recommend some pretty expensive speakers (before you gave us your budget) but there are suggestions here for ones in your range. Lexus & Mark L have these real way out there specs are NO car audio manufacturer will come close to (as far as impedance goes). You will go crazy trying to find something that will match the stock amp.

I dunno, buy did Zgone replace his stock amp for the front speakers? If not, then you have nothing to worry about. Forget the specs - if it's been working for him all this time and he says it rocks compared to the stock, then go for it.

Zgone did not replace the front amp. Just the woofers.

PLEASE read the entire post to get the specs and clearances etc. Its all in there.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...all-sc430.html

I did the entire upgrade for about $400 including front woofers, rear drivers, Subwoofer, Subwoofer amp, sound deadening. The entire process takes work. If you have the skills and some patience it's not difficult, just time consuming to take all the panels off and get to the rear electronics area in the trunk etc. If the woofers you buy are too deep then use a spacer. I used 1/4" Luan plywood from Lowes to make the 6.5" to 6x9 adapter. It easily could be spaced to allow for deeper speakers.

Front Woofers - $55 each ($110)
Vifa P17WJ-00 6-1/2" Woofer

Rear Drivers - $38 each ($76)
Galaxy Audio S5C160-8 5" Full Range Driver

Subwoofer - Polk Audio - $60

Subwoofer Amp & Install kit - $85

EDead Sound Deadening Material - $80

Call Parts Express they will help you with the woofers and drivers. 8 Ohm

Call Crutchfield and they will help you with the amp and the subwoofer! (4 Ohm or whatever you want)

Finally gave in and bought a couple of Goldwoods from PartsExpress: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=290-306
I'll let you guys know how it goes.

By the way, there's a LARGE selection of speakers (even at <$100) that will fit in the 6x9 cavity when you use speaker adapters.
Just check out Parts-Express.com

there is not very much space (depth) for the woofer only about 3". there is no room in the front to add a spacer either. I found some 8ohm 6x9's but had to return them because they required too much mounting depth.

Same with the 2.75" squakers... there is not much room there either so you can pretty much only go with the speakers that have the same mounting depth as the stock speakers (which I was not able to find)...ugh....

though I was going to be able to replace the cheap paper ML's with some nice speakers, but ended up having to return everything and just glue back the surrounds.

Sorry to hear that, what a pain..

That's why I ordered the Goldwoods linked above (posted wrong link earlier).
3 3/16" mounting depth and my speaker adapters are about 0.25",
I think it'll be fine.

I imagine using a 2" full range for the squawkers (limited to a 3" mounting diameter with 1.25" mounting depth) and finding some way to either use the stock mount or just simply make your own.

The stock squawkers are not utterly terrible actually.
Something more dynamic would be nice though.

Thx for the recommendation.

However, the wizard isn't particularly helpful.
The 6x9s may fit in the stock location but you'll need to purchase a different amp.
Some custom work will be needed to fit in other components.
For example, the fit guide suggested me a couple of 12" woofers.
Our stock location utilizes a single 8" port.

It did, however, tell me that the front speakers have a 3" mounting depth allowance and the rear speakers are 4" (I thought it was 5") with a 2.5" mounting depth.

Finally got the installation done.
CaliforniaCarSounds replaced my Earthquake SWS-8 sub with a Pioneer TS-SW841D.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...llow/TS-SW841D
This baby has juice for what it is.

Replaced the 6x9s myself with some Goldwood 6.5" 8-Ohm woofers (about $30 a pop, shipped)
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=290-306
These sound awesome.

Fabricated the adapters myself with about $2 worth of material (MDF board and some leftover spray paint).
Used a rotary saw, Fein MultiMaster kit, router and some sandpaper.

Here's a pic of the door:

The white stuff on top is some glue.
I accidentally ripped the cone off while removing the cushion rim.
Works great now.

Will upload a pic of the sub after I put in some RAAMMat.
