Default Doing Clay

Did my '02 last weekend, and just completed Katy's '04...using Meguiar's clay kit. The results (took me about 3 hours per car) are incredible. This is a new experience for me...but cannot recommend the process enough. Tomorrow I will finish her car with a foam pad buffing ( Valentines' day present) it is SOOO nice to have a wife that appreciates this stuff...Best Wishes, Bob

Hey Bob I agree with you on both counts.... Clay barring the car has an AMAZING result. Did to my old daily driver ... and it came out like it was brand new! Did it to the wife's RX a few days later and she really appreciated it.

Same here. Used ALL Zaino products. Claybar and then zaino hardener with polish. Incredible-looks like it has a glass covering and the feel is just unbelievable. And of course the wife's infiniti EX was second in line.

interesting about claying in general.
and the Zaino stuff, I put so much of that stuff on from '03-'06,
i stopped using it 3 years ago cause the paint was just so slick.

i hardly clay and wax anymore on my car.
i just now use the detailer spray and wipe off w/ a microfiber towel.

Default Doing the clay thing

We will post pics this weekend....finished Katy's 04 on Sunday with foam pad and Meguiars Next Generation wax(Valentine's day present). Absolutely no swirl marks ( was very bad) and the depth and clarity of the paint is incredible. I will wax my '02 after I finish tax prep for my accountant this weekend. Katy's car looks like..and feels like a new car...you know the feeling...when you go to a Lexus showroom and touch the new cars...and look at the incredible paint finish...and believe me, the Pine Green shows any and all imperfections....have used Meguiars for years, and have always been more than satisfied with the results...Bob

I just follow the instructions that they include with all their products. I always mix the hardener with the polish and the results are great. It goes on and off much easier than your average polish. I agree that after a while, you only need to use the detailer spray. This is by far the best product I've ever used. I also only clayed once and polish every 3-4 months, but really don't need to do it that often. I use my SC every day for a 5 mile round trip and use a california brush and then the
detailer spray every day or two. Yes I'm **** about it.

John-great pics on your car post clay. I can't tell from your pics in the garage or not, but do you have the problem with cloudy headlights? My 02 did when I bought it, and I swear by that meguires plastic scratch remover-I posted about it a while ago. It's specifically for clear plastic/headlights. Amazing results!

You all have me convinced to clay my sc as well! Can't wait to see Bob/katy's pics.

I had heard about claying a car, but had never done it myself. I Googled internet sites and there were claying videos that demonstrated how you could hear the friction when running your hand over the surface of the car like sandpaper before claying and then no sound after claying (perfectly slick). My initial thought was "Yea, Right!". So I bought the Mothers California Gold clay bar kit and did the test. Yes, I could hear my hand rubbing across the surface before claying and nothing after claying. It really works to give you a slick surface. Next I added a coating of carnauba wax and I had a like new car finish. All I do now is add a detailer spray once a week and it's still like new. I highly recommend claying your ride if you can hear your hand rub across the surface.
