Default New Wheel Questions

I am considering purchasing new wheels for my SC430. Only concern stems from an issue I had way back when I purchased aftermarket wheels for my GS400. After a couple of months of driving I drove over a pothole (inevitable in NJ/NY) and bent a rim. Drive was never the same after that- had tons of vibration and had to ditch the wheels. I never had this problem with a stock wheel.

Will this be a concern with any aftermarket wheel or is there something I should be looking for when shopping? I particularly like the 10+ spoke design wheels with a black finish. Any suggestions? Budget is $1k...

Thanks,

An inexpensive aftermarket wheel that I've had good luck for six months is with the Verde Kaos V55. I got the hyper-silver. You may want to Google "Verde Kaos V55 black". It looks like it may be what you're looking for. It hasn't bent yet on 18" wheels on VA highways. We have plenty of potholes this time of year. I still have to have road force balance done to get rid of the vibration. These cars are very sensitive to balance. Good luck with your search.

Going low profile tires makes bending a rim far too easy. On my Range Rover I ditched my 22" rims for 18" after bending 3 in a year. 2.5 ton truck and low profile is a no no.

But then the SC is not light either.

I really like the Advan F15's but wont feel right spending that much on a set of wheels in this economy. Anyone know of similiar wheels at a reasonable price.

The wheels can be found at the following link:

Thanks!

They are not far from your budget. You'll kick yourself later if settle for something less than what you wanted. Go for it and then post pictures.

i'd keep an eye on used wheel listings. try the classifieds here. but also check out the used wheel forums on g35driver.com. that's a more common style on g35s and their fitment is basically the same. they do tend to go a bit more aggressive on offsets though. so if you find something you like, post it here and someone call tell you if it'll fit.

Racing hart and Volk. Trust me. Affordable on the used eBay market and super strong and reliable. You can get 1,2, or 3 piece wheels but 1 piece are the strongest. 3 piece are simply flashier and allow for diff offsets. But again, volk or racing Hart. Try to find the old racing hart cx's or cr's. They are perfect for the sc.

Langs- Would those be compatible with the TPMS? Are there many wheels that are?

Guys found a set of wheels I am seriously considering... would the following offsets work:

19x9 front +26
19x10 rear +22

How would they sit on the car?

Thanks!

they should fit without rubbing. just make sure they're the right bolt pattern.

I had similar offsets in my RPM wheels on my 2002 and they were RIGHT flush with with fenders-almost made tires stick out (almost). Rear must have a big lip. Can you post pics? Bolt pattern the same?

I agree with poqman-verde kaos are good wheels. I have bought two sets of them. I have one set of 22"s on my SUV and they are GREAT! Very stylish and strong. I drive the hell out of my SUV over RR tracks, etc and no problems (knock on wood).

they should fit fine. if you lower it, you may have some rubbing with the wheel well liner. not a big deal. you can let it wear through. or cut it out where it rubs. it'll look pretty bad if you don't lower it, btw.

that said, i personally don't think they'll look good on an sc. but if you like them, go for it.
