Will be happy to do so.

A reason that I find this forum valuable is that I am able to learn from the experience of other Lexus owners. Thus, I am pleased to be able to pass on things that I have encountered as a owner and driver of my fine automobile.

Default My backup camera system is installed

Hello

The installation of the module and camera took place today in a matter of two hours.

I have attached photos of the camera attached just above the rear license plate in the recess where the plate lights are located and of the image on the nav display screen as I am backing up.

Although the quality of these photos (taken by a phone camera) is not good, the images are clear enough to provide you with a good look at the camera location and how the image displays on the nav screen.

Please note, the curvature of the backup photo is a result of the overhang under which I am driving. If I were on a street, the image would be a rectangle filling the screen.

I am very pleased with the 160 degrees of peripheral vision and brightness that this camera provides.

The only time the Lexus Disclaimer image is on the screen is at the initial start of the engine. Going back and forth in a parking space does not bring about the Disclaimer.

No wiring of the actual video module can be seen in the trunk. The only visual evidence that my new system projects is the camera itself and I do not find it obtrusive at all.

Thanks carbuff for the pictures. Looks great.

So the disclaimer image comes when you start the engine....but goes away as soon as you put the car in reverse. Correct?

Take care.

The disclaimer ends as soon as I press, "Accept." It does not display again until after the engine is shut off and then restarted.

Yes, the backup cam has priority over the disclamer image. If you shift out of reverse really quickly, you can see the disclamer image again.

Thanks....this is exactly what I was looking for. If I remember correctly, you installed the NAVTOOL...right?

Cheers.

I passed the tools and held the flashlight while the NAVTOOL was installed

Well I have purchased the components for the install, and it will be installed in the morning.

I went with the:

Nav-tool ($360)
Pioneer ND-BC4 ($160)
And going to Ultimate Audio for a hopeful hour install ($90)

$610 after all said and done doesn't seem to unreasonable for a reverse camera. I would hate to know what a factory one from Lexus would run, if they even offered it.

I will post more pictures when the install is finished.

Installation is complete. I absolutely love it. Screen is crystal clear. Install is clean. Looks like it belongs there.

The install did run 3 hours though because I had them do it the correct way as opposed to the "incorrect" way. They ran the wires up to the front of the car to the ignition switch and accessory power instead of tapping into the reverse lights. This did entail a bit more work, but I am more comfortable going that route.
