Default just got a sc..red flashing lights and noise?

hi guys,

lurked on this site for probably about two months before purchasing a blk on blk leather '02 sc430 with 100,000 miles for $15,000 3 months ago. just wanted to say thanks for helping me make an informed decision! timing belt/water pump had just been replaced..new brakes..michelin sport tires...car in immaculate condition. I THOUGHT i got a pretty good deal and absolutely love the car but now I feel something has gone wrong.

Was driving the other night when the little green light on the dashboard came on..what is it? I never even knew it was there! Then, shortly after, the two red lights on the side started flashing n beeping..really annoying! does anyone know what they are and what this means? thanks

When I see flashing red lights and hear noise, it usually means I am about to be arrested.

Wow! Is there something in the owners manual? May be time to get her to the dealer..I hope all those lights are not on while you are driving.. a computer problem??

you have an aftermarket radar installed...

What a nice surprise. Looks like an older k40 radar. I've got one of the newer ones installed in my SC

I have no idea how the older ones are activated. Mine has a wireless remote, but im assuming there must be some wired or wireless remote to turn it on with.

what a great surprise! dash lights that are actually a welcome! jerzylexus and kaisersea1 found NICE surprises while many got undisclosed accidents, paint work, etc.

We should have all messed with you and told you that you have a very special SC designed by the Pentagon with a special tracking device on it or something!! LOL

congrats

I discovered a K40 radar in my Audi TT a year after I bought it. Look everywhere for a **** or switch inconspicuously mounted. In my TT it was a weird circular switch was was rotated to click on mounted at about knee level in the foot area.

I asked the guy I bought the TT from and he never did notice it and we figured it was installed by the original purchaser.

The only downside is that K40 gets horrible rankings in the radar detector testing. With most cops now using "instant on" radar, detectors are pretty worthless. And if your police department is using "instant on" lidar (pulsed laser), then any detector is totally worthless.

The upside is that it is a clean install!

Detectors still work in the Pacific North West. From October to April when it is dark, cold and rainy the cops put the lasers away and just sit in there cars with the old radar running. They don't want to get wet while aiming laser! Most of the motorcycle cops are also parked for the winter too.
