Honestly, I anguished about the decision of the ECU and went back and forth twice checking out at the parts department. The sewell "kit" link I'll post below is the BEST way to go, but if you are in Tx, you have to pay tax and the only way to order is online, not in person. I had the itch to knock the project out this weekend and wanted the parts in hand. After tax, shipping, etc the entire kit was over $1k and just the tails were $630 so it was a $400 decision plus I had to wait.
Diablo-I am definitely going to try the tape idea-I remember your post and how easy you made it seem...I hope I can have your success in doing it.
I'm hoping to inspire other Pebble Beach owners (2004-2005 obviously) to do the rear tails too. I know mrblister and a couple others with the 04's. That would look sweet on the light blue 04 PB.

Trust me, the tape achieves the same result. You'll be glad you did it in the end. Cosmetically there is no difference and you can't tell at all that the light is on or that you taped over the light. I'm VERY **** about small things like that and would have bought the ECU in a heartbeat if things didn't turn out perfectly like they did. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Well time to bring this back...just pulled the trigger...and will get the chromies...need some DIY advise.

7440 is the official bulb number for the signal light bulbs.
What's the 992?
And I have seen it sometimes sold as a package 7440/992.
Are these one and the same?

Let me know what you bought so I can do the same! I'm like that other guy that started the thread "I hate this forum" hehehehe because all I want to do is upgrade the wife's SC....too bad it isn't mine (it is on the weekend)!

992's and 7440's, 7440LL, 7440A are all identical sized bulbs:
992's are amber colored bulbs. Used on our front signals. We have clear lenses in the front signals.
7440's are the same as 992's but are clear. Used on our tails because we have yellow lenses.
For the LED tails, normally 992's are specified, because the signal lens is clear.
If you use chromies, it is sometimes sold as 992 or 7440 but just the same, they are amber in color when lit but looks like a silver or chrome color when unlit.
LED tails will look super with chromies.

Got a question for the LED tails or the normal tails:
When you are replacing a busted signal bulb, is the procedure to just unbolt 1 10 mm and pull out the tail and replace the bulb? Makes sense? Anybody's replaced their rear signal bulbs?

The LED tails are in! Thanks to scdroptop, VVTiBob, VIPNiSS, ect. for the tips.
Took me 2.5 hours, coz I took my time. There are a few things that I can add that can help or emphasize the need of:
1. Definitely tape the surroundings of the tails, you will be yanking the tail, you will scratch the SC if you do not.
2. Use an exacto knife to cut the foam that is glued in on the garnish. The new Garnish has a clear tape (just remove the white tape, leave the clear tape) so the foam does not adhere to the body. The old ones are glued. Design change, they no longer glue the garnish.
3. Use a dop of oil on the torx bolt so that when you screw in the rubber stopper it will just slide in. It was a bear to put it back.
4. Get the chrome amber signal bulbs, it makes a whole lot of difference. And if you want to go to amber bulbs, it is so easy to change it out. Have 2 sets and you can change them when you feel like it.
