Aftermarket Deck

Aftermarket Deck
Is is possible to install an aftermarket deck so that it works with the remaining stock stereo (not worried about the navigation system) by using some simple accessories like hi-low converters?
Normally I would gut out the complete system but my ears are messed up, requiring me to wear earplugs in the car (thankfully not at home when listening to my home system) so I am only interested in convenience/features.
BTW, just called a dealer for this:
"I need the wood cover/door that is used on the car stereo. I will be using it as a face plate for an aftermarket stereo so I only need the cover (no gears or anything else to make it work)"
I aksed my mom to guess, she said $50.
He quoted me $500. I said "what does it come with?"
- "Just the wood"
- "That's pretty expensive huh?'
- "<chuckles> yeah, it is"
