Default Passenger Seat Belt Light Kept blinking...

My Fellow peeps,

As I was driving home, my Passenger Seat Belt Light Kept blinking and I didn't have a physical passenger person w/ me.

It's a symbol w/ a red light of a picture of a person w/ a seat belt around him/her.
There's one one the speedomoter console (driver's side) and passenger side (on the woodgrain).

I de-clipped and re-clipped my own seat beat to see if it was related to that somehow, but it did not turn OFF the passenger seat belt light.

I was thinking that the passenger's safety airbags have gotten bad or something.

This morning the same light didn't come on so what was it?

- hardware sensor gone bad?
- safety airbag gone bad?
- etc....

thanks...martini3

My guess would be the sensor in the seat that tells the car if someone is/isn't in the passenger seat.

If you clip the passenger seatbelt, does the light go out?

You know the drill.
Unplug the battery or check fuse #22 and #24.

just looking at the number of our posts, we're neck and neck w/ each other.
when does our "lexus test driver" status change at what total number of posts? hehehe...

BTW....the passenger light stopped blinking today.

but I'll keep the battery and fuse trick in my mind the next time it pops up again. thanks...

I have been bull****ting a lot and kind of enjoy it since the more knowledgeable OGs were gone.

My first thought is "What was on your front seat?????" I have placed items on the passenger front seat and had the light blink or stay on.

yup, i think that was it. I had a failry heavy bag on the seat.
it must have thought that there was a body sitting in it and that's when the seat belt light kept blinking to clip the seat belt.

thanks...martini3

You had a heavy bag on the seat and the light was blinking? You must have an older model. Starting with the 06 model, the SC checks for human DNA, not weight.
