Almost sounds like the NavTool got switched to the secondary video input (which you're not using) but, the switch for that is under the trunk flooring...no way for it to get switched "accidentally"...and no easy way for you to just try it...got take the toolkit out and the trunk floor up.
Nailed it on the head...and fixt it!
Now we just gotta get the ORIGINAL problem fixed!

Johnny & Tom
So you found the video switched ? How could that of happened. When the luxlink was taken out
did the dealer remove the entire harness ? This seems like a real mystery!!

Well, now it makes sense...the NavTool (and switch) are in the trunk...right next to the folding top computer!
They must've been mucking around back there and hit the switch.

It is a story for the ages, destined to be handed down from father to son. But I assure you, it is all true.
It was so sad, but the Nav Lady had breathed her last breath. The priest had given her last rites (which took three weeks). All that was left from her robust "YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT YOUR DESTINATION" was a pitiful "Deet, Deet." Her normally colorful display had been reduced to simple wavy noise. So sad to see a lady just four years old die like that. The CLOSED button was pressed, one last time. A tear was shed.
But wait! Habious, not even seeing the Nav Lady, just hearing about her condition over the Internet, opines, "Sounds like the NavTool got switched to the secondary video input."
Specialists are summoned and, after several hours of contemplation while watching Jimmy Johnson royally screwing himself at Dover (and every fan in the process), the surgeon's tools are deployed. The trunk floor is removed and patient is carefully examined.
Just a sweet iced tea later, the Nav Lady is back, just as good as new. Yes, it's true. Habious is a god, Santa Claus and the tooth fairy, all rolled into one.
As Habious disappeared into the night, all that could be heard was a sexy woman's voice in the distance: "SETTING HOME AS DESTINATION."

In the event someone is searching "horn" / "steering column controls" in the future, here's an update.
While I was beside myself that they kept the car for three weeks, I couldn't get mad at them or make demands because I didn't know what cards I was holding. If it WAS the LuxLink and it caused the initial problem, the Nav problem, and the top up/down problem, then I needed the dealer on my side to write this up as a warranty item. If I'm pissing them off, that's not gonna happen.
On the last go-round, the dealer pulled the LuxLink completely out and shipped it to Steve for testing. Steve said it was completely fried like he'd never seen before.
The original problem remained. The Luxlink was in California. Obviously not the problem.
I had previously told them about this thread where several people had this problem and it was the spiral cable. I found another thread on the Internet which indicated that if you can turn the wheel and the problem disappears, that is another indication of spiral cable problem. Sure enough, turning the wheel 90 degrees in either direction solved the problem.
The service writer agreed that we should replace the spiral cable -- in fact, he thought that was the problem on day one but the tech thought otherwise. Took it in today and, 45 minutes later, problem completely solved.
My service writer is actually a pretty great guy and was pretty sheepish given this nightmare. He said to submit a bill for the LuxLink and installation (he had no problem with my not wanting them to do it) and he'd see what he can do. So hopefully, this will have a happy ending, although that awaits re-installation of the LuxLink.
Thanks for all the info and support.
I would take the car back in and DEMAND they really service the car. You know why it was no charge because they did not fix anything they just blamed the lux link. It's a shame you let them remove your parts. THey did not find the problem and just created new problems . Its not my car and I am mad as hell. Johnny you need to get a really good lexus tech.

Great news. How was steve able to replace the lux link. I thought he said he was not making any more. If the unit was fried what do you suppose caused it. It sounds to me that when Lexus Dealer was trouble shooting your initial problem that now seems to be the spiral cable. He in fact may have fried the luxlink himself. THe luxlink is protected by a fuse. Was the fuse blown for the Luxlink? . If not the only way it could get fried would be from something else going wrong. The fuse is supposed to protect it at how it gets its voltage from. A short downstream would of caused perhaps the frying. I would make sure that when it gets re-installed that all of the connection wires are re-checked. You never did tell me if they simply unpluged the luxlink from the harness or did the remove the luxlink harness or disconect it from the cars system. I would have the wires checked to be safe. Did they also remove the hidden key module and remove the igntion connector that interfaces the lux link with the ignition switch { T connector ] for the remote start .
