Depends on the condition, of course, but '02's are typically going for low 20's to upper teens. And even though the mileage is super low for an '02, it's not really taken into consideration when you look at the book value. Once a car reaches a certain age, low miles essentially do very little to the overall book value. Practically speaking, it should be worth something, of course, but it won't be much. (No where near what it SHOULD be worth.)

Welcome to CL, by the way.

Upper teens for an '02 with 14k miles? I wish. We were recently looking and only saw SC430s with well over 50k miles for less than $21k or so. We ended up buying an '05 with 37k miles for $25.4k after some negotiating. For a 2002 with 14k miles, I would expect it to be listed at $24k+. I would expect that it would sell for around $23k or so. Unless the seller is really desperate and needs to sell within a few days or something, I don't see why the price would dip into the teens. This is in CA (may be slightly different in FL). Just check out autotrader.com to get a feel for prices. Takes about a minute. GL with the sale.

Hi mtart,

If that were my car & I wanted to sell it I would list it on Autotrader for $29,995.

Just my thoughts,

Jerry Baumchen

PS) Go on autotrader.com and take a look around to see what they are asking/selling for.

Speaking from recent personal experience with a 2006 SC, you will want to sell it yourself, but do your homework. All the dealers want to lowball a trade so they can 'certify' it and stick a high price on it. I have seen the offer for a trade and the resulting asking price from the dealer be around a $10K difference. That is money that you can get yourself by selling the car yourself. At least in the middle somewhere. IMO!

most likely, low 20s. unfortunately, that's probably the least popular color for an sc430. less demand = less $$$.

In the last month I negotiated the following deals I passed on, just to give you real world nationwide prices:

2005 Pebble Beach Edition 80,000 miles, one minor accident $21,000

2002 Silver/Black 63,000 miles, clean carfax, one owner, not one road ding, not one scratch, not even a centimeter of road rash on wheels, $19,200. Basically it was as if this thing was never driven, had 2010 nav disk and brand new tires.

2002 Black/Ecru 31,000 miles, two quarter size door indentions, some chips up front, custom wheels. $21,000.

Your perfect buyer would be someone who wants Sand color, in general the Sand and Dark Green ones are discounted about $500-$1,000 because of the color. A quick sale if your car is perfect would probably bring $19,000-$22,000. The longer you can wait the higher it might go for.

Random 80,000 mile 2004-2006 are popping up now at $20,000-$23,000, it all depends on what the wholesaler paid at auction.

I'll give you a range.... $19k-$22k reatail sell on eBay autotrader or craigslist/cars depending on number of owners, maintenance done (tires brakes 30k service based on time not mileage battery, etc etc). Of course no paint all maint records total cream puff one owner, all service up to date and perhaps some nicer wheels than the dinner plates maybe as high as $22k. I sold my 2002 red/ecru with 29k last summer for $24,500 but it had 20" chrome wheels, rediculous maint records two owner and in perfect condition and a highly desired color combo. At the time this price was (to my pleasant surprise) one of the highest sale prices online. Post some pics and give some more details. Trade in will hit you hard.... Probably no more than $15k. Difficult for dealers to get top notch financing on a 2002, and short terms would yield high payments or even be rather high to sell as a cash car IMO.

i don't think he could get nearly as much for his car. black is a much more popular color. and that car is being sold by a dealership with 100% positive feedback. personally, i'm thinking $22-$23k.

I sold my Egyptian Sand back in November for $23k with 22,000 miles on it.
I don't buy the color discount argument. Egyptian Sand is a gorgeous color that appeals to women more than men, so sell it to a chick

Agree. Yours is actually a more desired color from dealer requests. Be careful of the advice you listen to on these boards. You have to know your local market. In the Miami area, perhaps due to the weather 2002 are still not found below 20K very often unless they are very high miles.

I sat in a 2010 a week ago, and could not get over how little has changed since 02. Advertise it right and you should get 25K, for a car with so few miles.

Recent sales on Ebay April 2010

2004 12.6K Miles $29K Sold

2007 4K Miles $55K Offer Refused

2003 12.4K miles $29.9 Offer Refused

2002 35K miles $22K Sold

We don't know service history, maint records, how many owners, if it needs anything, any paintwork, etc etc. That's why I said $19k-$22k.

There is a silver/black 02 with 30k on it for sale right now at Sewell here in Dallas for $24,000 which is consistent with what I sold mine for last summer. They offered me $15k on a trade in...what a spread!!!!

Nothing too scientific, but you can do a nationwide searches for 2002's and limit the mileage on them to see a nice range.

I did it for you...

Well, there are only two 2002's with less than 15k on them in the nation for sale...Black and Silver. $25k and $30k...so $27,500 to split the difference. They are both at dealers.

Go up to 30k miles and under you have ten cars for 2002. Average price again, $27.5k

Just for fun (i love this stuff) I went up to 45k miles and under, average price was $25,398 and that's 30 cars to compare too. Wow!

I personally subscribe to the "color" arguement for sure. There are so many factors though...Most of these top dollar cream puffs are black, white and silver cars. A couple of red. I didn't see many Twilights, Pines, Golds or Indigos on this list. One could CERTAINLY make the argument that the rarer the color, the more money it should fetch. Let's face it-no SC color is ugly or undesirable! These cars have such a wide band of marketing appeal from sexes to age to income levels, that at this point nothing would surprise me.

I've looked A LOT at SC pricing especially for 2002's. I was surprised to see that there can be a 5-10% swing in price based on color. Big swing in wholesaler versus retailer and individual seller too. Sometimes up to 20% swing with that. You can't even really compare cars with paint work, wrecks, several owners or cars that have not been maintained well---that swing is huge compared to pristine perfect car.

Perhaps your best comparo is the 2002 30k gold at a dealer going for $24,995. My best bet is that it would go for $22k or more. Couldn't see it going much lower. IMO If you want to sell it fast, then list it at $23k obo. Want to have a bunch of tire kickers and calls to beat you down on price, list it at $25k obo.

I think someone mentioned it...but if you are in Boca Raton I bet Gold would sell quicker and higher than in LA or NYC. That gold/ecru is a pretty combination for hot climates.

I've seen low mileage paint work SC's and accident, non-maintained 2002's go for teens. I've also seen recently higher mileage 2002's go for low $20k's that were very clean and just driven/maintained normally. It's all relative. We really need more information to give a better estimate. I bet we are close though....
