2002 SC430 Door Speakers
I recently purchased a 2002 Lexus SC430 with only 20,000 miles on it. I encountered a few issues from it not being used, however, I am catching up on them. The remote was no good. I purchased one from xvipers and thanks to this forum I was able to program it successfully. Still having problems trying to program the key.
I also had to replace a rear head rest as the leather separated from it. No problem there either.
I am having a problem trying to program my garage door opener; gave up for now...lol
Last, the door speakers. I was getting a bunch of distortion coming from the lower door speakers on both doors. Again, thanks to the forum, I was able to get the door panels off and noticed the paper had separated from the frame of the speakers. I purchased a glue gun and followed the directions. They appear to be working properly at this time.
I noticed the price of the ML speakers are outrages. Even at xvipers, they want $179 each. Does anyone have good ones for sale? Know any speaker repair shop that are reasonable and can repair them? Know any aftermarket speaker that will be an exact fit and be the same configurations?
Thanks

This place re-foams our 6X9 lower door speakers and only charges $40 per speaker. It's a good way to salvage the speaker. I have used them and I'm very happy with their work.

Thanks "TOO COOL SC" for the valuable info.... They are working good right now with the glue repair, however, as soon as they fail, or when I take it off the road for the winter in November, I will send them out.
Got the door openers working. Ordered my oil and filter, Amsoil junkie. Pulled the cabin air filter out, it appears it must have been the original. Will replace that.
Any ideas on an MP3 hook-up? I found an old tape from my first XM radio.... It worked pretty good, however, I would like to have something permanent.

VaisTech makes a really nice unit called the SLU...
Link - http://www.vaistech.com/products/slu.php
It gives you 2 Aux inputs for the factory head unit. You'll need an iPod-to- RCA cable. The SLU does not charge the iPod...nor does it give you the ability to control the iPod from the stereo or steering-wheel controls (the 05+ cars have a lot more options for this kind of thing; the 02-04's don't).
I know a couple of folks have been able to acquire the iPod cable for the newer VaisTech units, and connected to the SLU via that. It gives you the ability to charge the iPod...but you still can't have the steering-wheel controls; that's just a limitation of the 02-04 stereos.
