Navagation problem
I have a 2002 SC430. I recently purchased it with only 20,000 miles on it. I was using the navigation and everything was working great except it didn't find a lot of roads. I checked the DVD and found I have Version #1. I read this forum and went out and purchased Version 9.1 for Generation 2/3. I purchased an original disk off of eBay from someone who accidentally purchased it for generation 4. I installed it and everything appeared to be fine. I looked at the DVD on screen and it does state I have version 9.1. However, when I went to use it and pressed the destination button and the destination screen appears, I cannot press on the address button. It does turn color and make the noise as if you were selecting it, however, nothing happens. I tried and tried. Then I thought I may have the wrong area and noticed I can't access the area (Map 1-7-8 whatever it goes up too). What do I do?????

Did you select the proper area of the U.S.? It's broken down into about 6 geographic areas. When I install my new disc if defaulted to D.C. area and I live in California. Additionally the NAV system does not allow you to enter info while the car is moving more than one or two mph everything grays out...

well lets check your DVD ... it may be a bad copy...copy don't seem to work correctly.
do this in the exact order
Press menu and then press option
then touch the top left of the screen, bottom left, top left and bottom right
the debug screen will appear
Check the version number and settings. should be 9.1
press override and try again.

VVTiBob: I tried what you stated, however, not sure if that works on the generation 2/3
I did click on Menu, however, no options come up? I can't pick my region, etc.... When I click on menu, I get the navation screen or destination screen. Up in the top right of the screen it states DVD. I click on the DVD and I get the message I am using Ver 09.01
I tired ejecting the DVD and re-installing it. It is an original DVD disk. Again, when I click on destination and click on address, it highlights it, however, nothing happens......

Still can't get my navigation to work.... It's an original disk.... however, just to see if I have a bad disk, I went to my local Toyota Dealer... Was going to try one of theirs and if it worked I would be a new one..... However, they said Lexus has a different part number (PT219-GEN23-09) then Toyota (86271-33038) and it won't work in a Lexus. He said I have to purchase the Lexus one they are not interchangeable?????????

Buy a new disc from Sewell, and consider the money you spent on the ebay disc gone, even if you think it's original or whatever reason they gave you for selling it.
I haven't heard of any disc for these cars purchased from ebay working.

If you search this forum for posts on this topic, you will find that rule #1 is don't buy a disc from eBay; there is too high a chance that you will get something false, faulty or fraudulent. I have bought a lot of stuff via eBay over the years, but I would not buy a NAV disc anywhere but from a dealer (e.g.: Seawell, noted above) because of the high risk.

Harley,
First of all, welcome to the forum.
If you have a relationship with a dealer, you might ask them to check out the disk. If you have a warranty, they might just swap it out for you.
I don't believe that the Lexus and Toyota disks are different. They will have different part numbers because one will come up with the Lexus logo and the other with the Toyota logo. But other than that, I think they are the same, but I have no experience to prove that.
