Passenger Side: Power Mirror L-R and Auto-Dim f(x) not working
Can anyone offer any clue as to what is wrong?
My passenger side power mirror does not move left or right, but up and down is okay.
I can hear the relay sound if I press left or right, but the mirror doesn't move.
At the same time, the auto-dim function is gone on that side, leaving the center and driver auto-dim mirror working.
I checked ALL the fuses and they are all okay.

The plastic gears could be messed up. I believe that there was a thread a year or two ago about replacing the gears that also instructed how to disassemble it to determine if that is the problem.
If you have a warranty, that should be covered though.

My passenger mirror stopped working going up/down, but continued to work left/right. It was the motor that had gone bad. I then found out that Lexus doesn't sell repair parts for the mirror. I had to find a used donor mirror on Ebay, disassemble the donor and reassemble into the car mirror. There is one hidden screw that makes this job hard to open the mirror housing to replace the internals. I practiced on the donor mirror before touching the car mirror. There was an excellent link with pictures how to do this in this forum.

Last year my passenger side view mirror stopped going up or down but did go left and right. It was covered under warranty. Strangely, they replaced the whole mirror, cover and all. They said it already comes painted which in my case was Pearl White.

My DS mirror stopped tilting down in reverse, took to the dealer last week under warranty and they fixed it no charge.
Didn't look to me like they replaced the entire mirror, I'm very familiar with my car's bodywork and could tell it was the same painted shell. Not sure what they did, but it works now.

Don't know if you know this little tidbit.... mirror will not move when shifting into Reverse if the mirror master switch selector (L/R) is in the middle or neutral position. Page 99 in my owner's manual.

While the SC seems to be virtually bullet proof, the mirror movement seems to be its Achilles heal. Even a tech admitted to me when mine was being repaird that the gears are crap.

Both the side mirrors of my LS430 and SC430 have been replaced multiple times, under warranty thank god. Now I avoid adjusting them the best that I can.
I say after 2000 because the mirrors on our 01' and 03' ES and GSs continue to work perfectly. All three of our ES/GSs came out in 1998
The reverse auto tilt down feature came out after 2001, I wonder that is the reason the mirrors became crappy. I remembered the mirrors on my 1987 Celica works perfecly for the 18 years that we owned it.
Both the side mirrors on my coworker's 07' GS350 and 06' IS350 are broken. And my service advisor told me all the mirrors on the latest generation of Lexus models are bad. I wonder the LFA will come with crappy side mirrors....haha.
