Hello All,
I know this string is a bit dated...but just updated my Gen 2/3 system on my wife's 2002. Bought a 2005 Gen 4 player off eBay and a new disc from Lexus Victoria up here in BC. Fairly straightforward thanks to all members who posted in various places on this forum with model numbers, etc. Many thanks to you.
IMHO...Its a a pretty significant upgrade for the Canadian mapping going from 2002 to a 2015 disc. Went with Lexus OEM disc so I would have no issues...not many OEM U30's Discs left in Canada. So if you are thinking of it buy one now! Also bought a another Gen 4 player just in case but not sure I really need to have a spare Nav player.
Could just use phone but I find in mountainous areas in BC/Alberta still lacks cell coverage and I also will not look down when driving at highway + speeds! It was worth $350 CDN. After a recent mountain driving trip to Alberta may consider buying a tiny spare tire also to throw in back seat for road trips, especially for the slightly more remote mountain roads. Could take roadside assistance a while!
