If that's the case, then try this method on a hidden area just in case it's messed up. Use factory Toyota touch-up stick and brush it on the bumper (hidden area), then use the blend-in solution from Dr. ColorChip and knead it to blend in. If it looks alright, then I guess you can do it on the front bumper for real.

I just ordered some to use during my upcoming zaino weekend. My question is, at which stage should I use this? After the Z-PC swirl remover and before the Z-5 polish? Or after the Z-5 and before the Z-2? Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd say right after a wash.
That way the polish and swirl removers can smooth out the finish and rid of excess clear coat.

Not too happy with the results of Dr Color. Did it yesterday on white gold and did not really "fill-in" chip. Re-did it 3 more times with the same result. Looks the same as the touch up pen I used previously. Any suggestions?

Langka is another product that members have recommended for chip repair; several threads in the detail forum about it.

Default Before and After - Absolutely Red '02 SC

I finally got the time to use the Dr. Color Chip kit I ordered for our 'SC. I've attached before, during and after pics for your use. I washed the car first with Zaino car wash. Then used rubbing alcohol on the chips to make sure they had maximum adhesion. I followed the instructions and like others got some mixed results. I had about 12 dings/scratches to fix in the hood, rocker panel and trunk lid. Overall I'm pretty happy, but I do realize these kits will never be as good as factory paint!

Here's what I found:
  • Paint color is dead-on for Absolutely Red.
  • The whole process is very easy and straightforward.
  • Time for paint to dry is a couple of minutes, although I let it sit for an hour or so as he states in the instructions for better adhesion.
  • The paint is thinner than the factory touch-up pen paint so I actually ended up doing deep dings several times to build them up.
  • Don't buy the big kit unless you have a LOT of dings and scratches.

Pics below show before/after/in process (smear) of hood only.
