Exhaust Tip Removal?
I purchased two new exhaust tips for my 2006 sc430 because one of the exhaust tips was slightly bent. I thought by removing the screw near muffler would be all that it took and each one could be pulled off. However after removing the screw from one of them, I could not pull it off. Anyone's help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Assuming they are OEM tips, then you're correct that's all that is necessary. I've removed mine to polish the chrome. The first time it did take a little twisting, pulling force from an uncomfortable position under the car but they did come off.

I recently purchased 2 new tips. I removed the screws and they pull straight off. You do have to wiggle and twist a little to break them loose but they are designed to come straight off.

Your local stealership carries them...or Sewell parts online (part #17408) has them for $78 plus change "each" with the CL discount. My local dealer wanted $92 plus sales tax equaled $100 apiece. Took mine off and polished them up nicely on the buffing wheel and polishing compound.

Bob, Thanks for the response and verification that they cost as much as I thought. It should be about a $12 part. I also found them on www.lexuspartsnow.com. It seems as though the dealers have discretion with the final pricing of all parts, hence the variance from dealer to dealer. I wish I could polish them, but the main reason for me wanting to replace them, or at least one of them, is that one is slightly bent from driving off a curb. I've found that non-OEM tips do not fit that easily and will require some welding and cutting which I do not want to do at the present time.

Hello, i would like to know how difficult it is to remove the muffler from my 2002 SC430, i want it to be louder than it is now.
What tools would i need, and what kind of pipe would i need to use to replace the muffler?
