Default About to buy American Opinions?

I got an offer to buy a CTS-V 09 with 14k miles for 43, Dark Gray with black interior. I can get a low mile ISF for about the same. I much prefer the Caddy in the looks department performance is very close. Is there any compelling reason to look harder at the Lexus? I am keeping our LS & SC this next car will be my daily driver.

If you really want that ISF, you're gonna have to be able to flip a WHOLE LLLLLOT of burgers!!

This is definitely team leader money. They let me take the Caddy home and I am really liking it. I kind of hinted before that the IS looks like it got beat up with an ugly stick IMO. Since I don't buy German, it looks like it is leaning heavy toward the Caddy.

FYI they offered me 17K for my SC as trade 03 with 44K. Not considering parting with Lucky.

Oh, my bad Mr. Hot Shot Team Lead! heh heh

You know, I actually like the interior of the IS - a LOT! I think for in its class (330, g37) there is nothing that beats it! It's definitely a HUGE improvement over the IS300 (which I owned).

I would also think you would want to use the sportier (which is usually less comfortable car) as your short weekend car for fun, and the more comfortable car (with a smoother, softer ride) over the long week. At least that's what i would do.

Kaiser. My other half used to work for GM. He now has a Vette. I believe.. may be wrong, that the car you are looking at is on the same chassis. All in all, the Caddy is the best made US car for reliability, and comfort of course.

Consider it strongly.

My brother bought a Caddy a few years ago, and when he went to trade it in on something else 2 years later, found out that it had depreciated 50% in those two years. He and his wife now both drive Infinitis.
As for your headline: where do you go to buy American Opinions? I thought they were free.

I believe the XLR and the 'vette are on the same chassis, not the CTS....

I have two close friends with '09 CTS-Vs and they both love them. They are true American hotrods w/very comfortable rides. One of my pals traded his tired BMW 740i for the Caddy and he's become a huge fan. The other friend traded his Lexus RX and doesn't miss it at all.

Hope this helps you w/your decision.

Performance is very close?

0.8 second going 110 mph is like the length of a city block, the V is a few leagues higher performance wise.

09' CTS-V:
Supercharged 6.2L V8
556 hp @ 6,100 rpm
551 lb-ft @ 3,800 rpm
0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds
1/4 mile: 12.4 secs @ 115 mph
60 mph - 0: 104 feet

09' IS-F
Naturally aspirated 5.0L V8
416 hp @ 6,600 rpm
371 lb-ft@ 5,200 rpm
0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.2 secs @ 109 mph
60 mph - 0: 112 feet

I'd consider it real hard. I'm even considering a CTS sportwagon in place of the ES. I think they look sharp. Of course the sportswagon doesn't compare to the V. Just the looks. Go for it and keep us up to date.

Trying a friends trick, handed the sales manager a check for 39k, he said no. We will see if he calls. Looked inside a Isf and the size alone was enough to make me walk away. The Caddy is much wider and almost double the trunk. Did not drive the Isf but many say the ride is rough. The Caddy was almost as smooth as our LS Wish me end of month luck.

You're phone won't ring.
$43k is actually a fair price for the car as Edmunds trade value is $45k. Private party is $48k, retail $50k.
He's got a decent deal on the table already.

You also pissed him off by low balling.

The car has 43K written on the windshield, with no trade, cash, I would guess they would take less. I was confused no counter offer. they also let me keep the car overnight. Tough to guess his bottom. I doubt guys in the business get pissed by honest offers, they can always say no. Both my cars, my house, and my wife settled when they could have gotten better, you never know unless you ask..

From looking on autotrader earlier, $43k is REALLY low for a 09' V, he priced it to move it, that is probably his bottom. Someone will give him $43k for it if you don't buy it. I don't even think he would do $42k. That's why there is no counter offer.

Good luck on your offer, stay by the phone Saturday, they might be looking at the numbers for the month and change their minds. You never know. When we bought the SC we had looked at a blue one. We liked the white one better, we made an offer on Thursday and the phone rang early Saturday morning. The sales manager was on the other end and asked which one we really wanted. We said the white one and he made us a deal. We went in to drive the white one and the salemen hadn't even been told that we were coming in. So strange things do happen.
