Does you trunk lid rub the bumper?
When raising and lowering the top my trunk lid just grazes the bumper when it's fully raised. This, of course, leaves scuff marks on the bumpers paint at the rubbing point. Has anyone else noticed this? I could be that my bumper or trunk lid needs adjusting but I don't know which. Any thoughts?

I believe that there was a thread about that a couple of years ago or so and it mentioned how to adjust it.

The fix seems to be a trip to the body shop for a bumper adjustment.

Well, I just got my car back from the body shop. I had them tackle my roof rubbing issue and told them that I had heard that the bumper needs to be adjusted to miss the roof (as was said by a Lexus dealer reported in another thread). They looked at the bumper mounts and said that there isn't really any adjustment provided and that the bumper skin mounts with screws that simply pass through round holes. They thought about "ovaling" out the holes but looked at the trunk lid hinge instead. I don't know the adjustment that they found but they did find and adjust something on one of the hinges. The trunk lid now moves out-and-away from the bumper skin as it just begins its decent. There is at least a 1/4" of clearance and maybe more between the lid and bumper at all times. The best part is that they didn't charge me anything . You gotta' like that.
I wonder if the adjustment is made at the two side scissor hinges that push the lid up and back rather than the back hinge itself. I should probably go back and ask.

I had the same problem. (I cannot find the thread I thought that I had started about this). Brought it to the dealer last summer (09) while it was still under warranty to show him the scuff mark that the trunk lid was creating when I opened the roof. They were all surprised by this. The car was never touched. It came from the factory this way. They took it and brought it to a body shop whereby the bumper was adjusted slightly. Problem is gone.

It was your thread that I found and relayed the info to the body shop. I wonder if Lexus really did move your bumper or was it something your customer service rep ginned up. My body shop guys said it wasn't hard to adjust the trunk lid.

I know that the fix wasn't done at the Lexus dealership. They sent it on a flatbed to a bodyshop in central NJ.
