Default Battery drains

Sometimes I leave dome lights on, trunk not closed tight or door not completely closed in my garage overnight, next day I need jump start!
Is there any setting to avoid this happening?

Well you set the dome light not come on with a "door open". But if you forget to shut the trunk properly, there's nothing you can do except check to make sure it's latched.

It might be a sign your battery is getting old & weak.

How long has it been since you replaced your battery? It probably means you should replace your battery.. easy fix for under $100

The battery is new. My friend has Honda accord it has a timer settings, everything in his car shuts down in 15 min. I guess we don't have such mechanism in our sc430.

Thanks for your response!!

Yes, the dome lights are now set right, the dealership had suggested!

You're correct there is no such function like that on our cars. Here's another option but ONLY if you garage your car. Don't lock it and set the alarm. While locking it is the safest move, it also keeps the system energized. If your car is in a secure garage there is no need to lock it.

This actually happened to me over the weekend. I keep a "Jump and Carry" in the trunk at all times. Small price for 24/7 protection.

I always lock the car using the fob. If any of the doors are not completely shut, you'll get a long "beeeeeeeeeeepppppp" error. It's really obvious that something's not right.

The Car is always parked in the garage unlocked. 'Jump and carry' seems to be the solution for me

I park my cars for sometimes 7-10 days in a covered space at a shuttle lot when I travel (like every week) and have never had any problem with any car having a battery drain except when I was careless and didn't close the trunk hatch, or close a door, or left a light on. I've been a road warrior for > 17 years now and have never come back to a dead battery.

Congratulations! 17 years is a long time.......you are very careful, every year I have a few incidents (2/3) and I am late for the meetings. so, you have any suggestion other than not to be careless? or have 'jump and carry' in the car?

Don't think anyone can help there. There isn't anything one can do but pay attention and not be careless.

Gonna revive this topic, any way to tell what is draining your battery.
Battery died the other day and I think it was from the amplifier(aftermarket), so I jumped the car, unplugged the amplifier, and ran it for a while to recharge the battery, went in and out of a few stores stopping and starting the car no problems, now I go back to start it a day later and the battery is dead again. Is the battery just no longer holding a charge possibly?
