Buying a sc430 before Christmas
Hello all,
I have been looking and researching for a hard top convertible and the sc430 is my best choice over the 335ci.
Found two used that I have problem fighting over with....
2002 black on black with 60K (average condtion) -- $17500
2004 Pebble Beach with 65K (clean condition) -- $23500
I'll share this car with my wife 50/50 usage as I have a daily G35x & only use SC on weekend. My wife love the 04 pebble beach but I want to get some advise if I'll look gay in that light blue color SC.......I like the Pebble beach interior. I will not mod the car.....maybe only a set of rims
Just want some advise. All comment welcome.

This is just a perspective...my former SC430s were an `02 and an `04. I traded the `02 for the `04 because of continued problems with the top mechanisms...the dealer had even previously replaced one of the struts under warranty ($1700). I have the idea based on other posters on this forum that the top mechanisms on the `02s were a little "buggy". The only problem I ever experienced in my 2 years with the `04 was a "cloudy" information screen...that also turned out to be typical in the earlier versions of the SC430s. You didn't indicate the model year for the 335Ci; so, other than what I've already discussed regarding the SCs you should make sure of the service records and that the 50K service was performed. Also, check and find out when you will have to replace the timing belt...that's an expensive service too.

Congrats! These are great cars, but they have interference engines. Both cars are due for a timing belt based on 72 months. Check the service records and see if either have already had it done. Timing belt, water pump, idlers and tensioner will set you back a $ grand. If neither have had it done, then plan to spent a little more than a set of rims. Also, have the run flat tires been replaced? You probably won't like the ride with them. Then you have to decide if you want to buy a spare kit.

Go for the 2004 Pebble Beach. There were not many of these made. The color IMO is charming just kidding. Seriously love this color. I have seen only one in person. My man, you will not feel gay but will soon find that this car and color is a chick magnet. I found the below picture on cars.com in MI which they said is 500 miles from Albany. This 04 has 10,800 miles and is $29,800. If it was not snowing I would drive from NC to buy this and sell my 02 silver with the same interior. After 36 years of marriage and happy every minute, it was not hard to discover that when I went with my wife's decisions not only were they correct but live was much easier. Good luck and post some great pictures of that Peeble Beach.

He hold the car for me for few day before his boss decide to put it in the market. I only saw the exterior, I will need to test drive it before making the purchase & see if they can check on the above issue. My wife said he want the pebble beach, mainly because of the color
