Default Mileage vs. Time?

This is probably a stupid question, but I am trying to figure out where I am on the recommended maintenance schedule?

2007 - First delivered in August 2007.
5k service done at 2000 miles, 10k service done at 6,000 miles
CPS Inspection done in August 2010, at 12,000 miles (I purchased here)

Now 40 months old and 14,000 miles

What needs to be done/when?

I just did a 'search' for 'sc430,maintenance schedule' and found this old link
that allows you to get a pdf schedule for your year:

The manual recommends a mileage and time interval prescription of what's recommended for maintenance. Follow as suggested.

Some people here stick by the miles. If I had a hardly used low mileage car, I would double the time and do the recommended items. For example when they ssay 6 months, I would use 1 year. JM2C.

I've weighed in on this several times over the years and I can only tell you from personal experience of owning a LOT (more than 30 now) of garage queens that it behooves you to keep the fluids, rotors, batteries, wipers, filters and rubber (gaskets, hoses, belts) as fresh as you can...or as recommended by the mfg. That's why they say 30k or 36 months.

So to answer your question, if it was me, I absolutely without a doubt would get a 30k/36 month service done. Think about this-you are driving on nearly four year old coolant, tranny fluid, breathing in four year old cabin filter air...your intake is being blocked by a four year old air filter, etc etc etc. I have seen my share of parts fail as well as fluids and filters and brake rotors and batteries due to father time...not just mileage. I'm assuming your car is garaged, but many don't have a garage. The entire car is still exposed to the elements. Some garages in extreme climates don't do enough...the car is still being exposed. IMO that's why Lexus and other car mfg's are smart and do the mileage or timing. I follow it...period.

Don't trust me though...see what Lexus has to say about this issue:

Thanks for the help, I'll try to be a bit more specific.
Both the 18k and 30k have 14 items to inspect, am I correct in assuming that the CPS inspection at 12k covered those?
The 36 month 30k service includes replace air conditioner filter, brake fluid, and engine air filter. It also includes inspecting brake pads and rotors.
Do I need these things done now or at 18k; or should I just wait until I get near 18k, change the oil, check/rotate the tires, and hold off on the other stuff til I have more miles?

Agree ^^ Plus 2. The cost to perform the routine maintenance is a pretty good investment in prolonging these (soon to be) classic cars.

Thanks much
I appreciate your experience - I'll get the 30k service done (when I hit 15k), and it warms up here a bit!
It's garage kept - I was just confused about what needed to be looked again after the CPS inspection, etc.?

You mean CPO? What's CPS? If your car is a CPO then I change my answer...you've already had the 30k service. Let us know.

Pull your maint history on your car and cut/paste it on here so we can see it. My CPO (and all the others I've seen) go through the rigorous 162 point inspection process and revitalization...See link here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ned-sc430.html

When I bought my car in Oct 09 it had the 30k done as part of the CPO process about a month before they sold it to me. The only other regular maint I've done since then is added a new K&N, cabin filter...both which managed to get a little dirty in just a years time and less than 1k miles! Go figure. Check it out...

You've had the 30k service then!

I'm reading my copy of the 001014 CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PDI and this is what was done:

OIL FILTER
ATF MAXLIFE T-IV
GASKET, TRANSMISSION
GASKET
GASKET
FULE INJECTOR CLEANER
WASHER SOLVENT
BRAKE FLUID
SUPER LONG LIFE COOLANT
GEAR OIL (REAR DIFF)
OIL, MOTOR
BRAKE CLEANER
ELEMENT, AIR REFINER
ELEMENT SUB-ASSY AI (AIR CABIN FILTER)
RUBBER WIPER BLADE
RUBBER WIPER BLADE
BATTERY

Ajust parking brake repair lower engine covers and bumper tire and brake pad depth ok within standards

PREOWNED 7.8HRS 30K SERVICE SET RADIO & CLOCK/RESET

Showed mine started on 9/15/09 and finished on 9/24/09

Quite a process!!!

Looks like you are good then...This summer you may want to check your air filter and cabin filter as they can need replacement once a year sometimes. Mine did.
