Resale Impact of SC Discontinuation...
How will SC resale values be impacted by the discontinuation of SC production? Any thoughts are has anyone heard about an SC or a variant being produced in the next several years?? Wonder why Lexus decided to stop making these great cars??? saw an article where Lexus is producing a $280,000 sports car and people are being chosen to lease it.

I think the price has went up right after Lexus announced the discontinue of the SC with replacement of the IS-C. I have been looking for the SC430 since 2009 & only found out that the used SC430 price on 2010 is actually higher/same as 2009.

Two years ago I would tell you that the SC430 resale would potentially tank, but now that the verdict is out on the IS-C and it clearly is not the same target market as the SC but may be just enough to satisfy some switchers' sweet tooth for a new lexus convertible.
Now with the teaser about the 600SCH and the LFA so far out of many SC owners price range as well, along with the healthy stream of new SC owners we are seeing on here and the quick turnover time on pre-owned lots everywhere I am more optimistic.
I think the range will be very large on the quality of cars however. You will still be able to find that "bargain" car that has 120k miles 2002 for $15k but super pristine low mileage 2002's can still fetch $23-$25k.
Case and point...
Look at this 75k red on ecru with rough leather inside, no warranty and questionable 18" aftermarket rims still going for $23k asking. Interesting???

The leather is all cracked on this...not especially clean car, nothing super special but a solid, healthy price of $23k+.

I think the available SC's (at least in my area) have been selling quicker. When I purchased mine in July, the dealer I bought from had seven CPO's sitting in a row out front, the the two other dealers in the area had another six. None of these dealers has any as of yesterday!

True, but it's all we have online for used cars to go by market value.
Lexus dealers typically start at about 20% profit margin on pre-owned cars based on my experience and knowledge with them. So, on the 2003 example I showed at nearly $24k...you can "shoot" for a buy price around $20-$21k and perhaps settle for $21,500-$22k would be a fair deal. With that, obviously I'd have them throw in a leather reconditioning/redye, new floor mats and some other goodies of course!
Bottom line and point I was trying to make is that the apparent market value based on selling prices and several other factors point in the direction (to answer OP's first question) of a strong resale market of the SC430 IMO.
