How to remove Calipers-Brake Pads-Rotor
We are snowed in! Atlanta has no work, no school, no nothing. We got hit with 5" last night. And it is not letting up, we have freezing rain today and tomorrow. What a mess!
Therefore I can work on the SC!
I am doing a DIY on how to remove the brakes and rotor. For some reason I am missing the Driver side brake shield-cover and I bought one and installing it.
For me to be able to, I have to remove the rotor, hence it is equal to a brake service.
Hope some of you will find tips on this DIY. My pads are good, so are the rotors. The slider pins are ok, but will need some cleaning next time. I will just keep an eye on them.
Pics to follow.

The SC is the easiest to change oil on. The oil filter is very accessible. While I was doing the brake shield, dumped the oil and filter and now she's on new fluids!

I plan to do my rear brakes in spring (fronts were done when I bought it). I will definitely appreciate your DIY with photos when it's posted.
Can I ask what you're using to lubricate the pins and boots? I know that the FSM specifies lithium soap-based glycol grease but I would be interested in what type/brand you've found for this application.

I am using the generic lubricant, store bought. And I use some brake squeal (in between pad and shim.
I am doing the front this time. I will do the rear at a later time.

Survey the caliper. You will need to remove 2 14 mm bolt (use 17 mm counterbolt). Then the 2 17 mm caliper bracket bolts (might need a breaker bar, use anti-seize when replacing caliper bolts).

Pistons off. Carefully hang the piston by using a bungee cord, hang from the spring.

Time for the brake shield. The shield can not be installed as is. The bearing has to be pulled to get the shield in. I had to cut off a portion.
