How did you seal it back on? Just reheat and stick back together? I was thinking about using black gasket maker.
using the oven will give a uniform heat-don't worry, it's safe.
after you reheat it, you can reseal it back with the same epoxy

be careful with the heatgun b/c leaving it too long in spot will melt it

I have baked my headlights in my past two vehicles to install halos and paint. The first time baking your headlights is kind of nerve racking but you get over it.

I cleaned off all the remaining sealant from the clear plastic lenses and the black headlight housings and I resealed them with black silicone from Home Depot.

Now, I am not sure if I want to do mine or not.

Thanks, I appreciate the responses. You'd think it is crazy to put your headlights in an oven, but I guess that's how most people do it. I have some leftover high-temp primer that I used for my calipers and high-temp black engine paint that I may use for it. I'll do it in the Spring when the weather is nicer and make some notes for a DIY, right now it's cold and icy in PA.

When does LB get his eyes back?

I am so glad I did not try this myself! Like everything else our car is just a bit more difficult than most. I believe even langsdale, king of the modders has something rattling around in his lights. The guy doing mine showed me how delicate some of the housing plastic is, and if you pry in the wrong lace you will never get a good seal.

He took a lot of pictures at every stage (a cl member) and judging by his cars, and his living room full of headlights from all makes I am pretty confident.

I am waiting for my bulbs from ijdmtoys before we put lucky back together. I will start a new thread with all the pics, hopefully the mod can add langsdale and scdroptops into a sticky. I will try to post all this weekend.

Scale model chrome can be easily stripped by dipping parts in liquid bleach... I wonder if this would work on the headlights???

Used this method before and it worked fine...

Can't remember the temperature required... Can somebody refresh my memory?

The LEDs I bought are kind of cool looking, and I always hated that big lens, so I decided to do without it.

I've done research on this since I plan to paint mine this Spring. I found a few websites for non-Lexus cars. Any info on the specific temperature and time for SC430 would be great though...? I'll probably try the first one since it seems to be the least amount of heat (paranoid about melting), then up the temp/time if seal doesn't loosen.

This one says 275 degrees for 5-6 minutes: http://forums.evolutionm.net/lancer-...sings-diy.html

This one says 350 degrees for 2 minutes, turn off heat and let it sit oven for another 5 minutes: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=112247

This one says 275 for 10 minutes: http://www.club-tc.com/forums/appear...san-titan.html

Finally done! Some went well some problems. I have a lot of pics including the bumper drop, I will try to get a post with all on Friday. For those curious why it took so long I have one word.
