SC430 vs 650i
#16
I've been a part of this forum for several years. I own a SC430 and ES350. So I'm a true Lexus enthusiast. In no way did this guy insult anyone. He has an opinion, and he stated it. I love the SC430, but the BMW is superior in many ways; technology, power, driving ability, etc... This doesn't make it a better car, just a different one. Can't somebody have a differing opinion around here? I'm surprised by the attitude toward him. The SC430 is a wonderful car. But comparing it with a brand new BMW that is in a different class is a fantasy. Let's allow a different opinion on the forum. It will keep us active.
I have to agree with is.. and i own a sc430.

I disagree about this comment being rude. And i own a SC430. Really, I'm not at all offended. It is 10 years old! LOL! It looks NOTHING like the BMW. It's technology is 10 years old (tape deck...), slower than the BMW and doesn't handle as well either. It looks old (it always did) but I like that look on THIS car because it looks like a "classic" old versus an "outdated" old.
But come on now! IF a geenie told me I could have one of these 2 cars to own for the rest of my life and he were to guarentee each one would be trouble free forever, and I could only own 1 car for the rest of my life, the BMW would be a no brainer. Get over it!
guys, don't be so sensitive...

The reason Lexus overtook the Germans in the US is we rather drive super reliable , noise isolating, comfortable cars instead of driving machines. You date the hot high maintaince girl, and you marry the keeper. I think the negative comments on either car is fair. I rather drive the Bimmer. I paid less for my SC, LS, and CTS V combined, vs the price of a new Bimmer. Someday you may be able to use a 10 year old BMW as a daily driver, but not today. So I admire them on the road, and drive the keeper.

Apples and Oranges here...
Agree with earlier poster that about the only similarities is that they both are coupe convertibles and have four wheels.
Hard to compare.
It's like the 911/Boxster/Aston/CLK/SL and all the other comparos we have done on this forum over the years---many cars are different than the SC...that's what makes the SC so special and in some ways makes those cars special too. There are very few cars that are "close competitors" to the SC430, and three of them are available today:
1) G37 Convertible
2) IS350C
3) 335CI Hard Top Convertible
We've talked about them already...I don't put the six series convertible in the same category in my mind, so it's very hard to compare, just like our previous debates about the boxster, aston, EOS and all others!
If it was 1995 we could say the 3000GT VR-T Spyder too, LOL. 300hp AWD rear seat, hardtop convertible (first one), etc etc. That would have been a good comparo!
