Default 5starshine - has anyone heard of this?

Just ran across an article for 5starshine wax substitute - anyone have any experience w/ this - how does it compare to zaino or onegrand?

"Americans love their cars and boats and airplanes and spend thousands of dollars and hours and hours of their valuable leisure time buying and applying polish and wax.

What they don't know is that over time all that loving care does more damage than good; what they do know is that a weekend wax job doesn't last.

"It doesn't take long for the sun to soften a wax job," says Glenn Canady, President of 5 Star Technologies, Inc. "The soft wax soon fills with dirt and grime and it isn't long before that rock-hard shine begins to dull."

"So they wax again," Canady says, "and each successive wax job dulls the original glow of the vehicle's paint."

Canady's firm, 5 Star Technologies, produces a product that protects the original paint by first removing environmental grime and then sealing the surface with a Teflon compound. It works so well that 5 Star Technologies guarantees a new car finish for 5 years.

In fact, 5 Star Shine was even chosen by the U.S. Navy to protect their Aegis radars on their ships. As these high-tech vessels travel the world's seas and suffer the effects of salt water and high winds, 5 Star Shine protects exposed radar equipment in the harshest marine environments.

So what is it that makes a 5 Star shine last and last? "It's a patented two step chemical process," Canady says, "a special wash that opens the pores in the paint and imparts a positive charge, which attracts an anionic Teflon solution that is magnetically pulled into the pores of paint."

The open pores of a painted surface are filled with the plasticizer, and it forms a barrier that will prevent the penetration of any other elements. Dirt, bugs, and road crud simply slide off the painted surface with a quick garden hose spray.

The formula plates, bonds and cross links the Teflon molecules and produces the depth of shine, the durability and corrosion protection. Unlike silicones treatments that attack the metal beneath the paint and create problems when the vehicle is stripped and repainted, the 5 Star Shine cross links in the paint alone and provides luminescent protection for years.

You won't need a professional service to produce a 5 Star shine. A warm afternoon in the driveway, a garden hose, a few soft towels, the 5 Star Shine PPS formula, and a keen desire to watch the transformation is all you need. If your vehicle, RV, boat or airplane is less than new and the paint is oxidized or tired it may pay to have an expert check it out and make recommendations to prepare the surface for a lifetime 5 Star Shine.

The 5 Star Shine process will preserve the showroom look, it will bring back the original luster of healthy paint.

5 Star Shine will protect the value of your vehicle for years to come - years of looking good on the street, in the campground, on the water or in the air. You'll turn heads with this stuff and significantly slow the depreciation of your vehicle.

Cool

Most of the finishes by Zaino and others do not contain Wax, but silicones or other shine enhancers. Even the waxes which claim 100% Carnuba are not all wax, but the 100% pertains to the fact that all the wax that they contain is Carnuba.
According to a Dupont rep. that I trust, ALL Teflon containing waxes only contain Teflon for marketing reasons, not for performance enhancement.
Two reasons, he explained.
#1. Teflon must he applied under high pressure and heat to become a slick surface.

#2. Teflon is not clear, and if applied would not be see through.
He had no reason to be untruthful, as he was very proud of his Teflon products, but was dismayed that unethical polish peddlers would misrepresent their products.

Stick to Zaino!, or other proven products. Keep away of peddlers who ignite lighter fluid or other such bogus demonstrations.
Good reports from
Blitz
Eagle One
Meguires Gold
New Finish
Liquid Glass (AKA Liquid First Class)
and of course ZAINO
