I'm sure the retractable mirrors cost a fortune, so I won't even bother to investigate what it would take to replace ours with that. It would be nice though in some of these parking lots and garages with tight spacing.

Yes, I am sure they are a fortune and if mine ever stop working they will probably have to stay that way if they were not repairable.
VVTiBob is right when he says we have them for our narrow roads.
Our older roads and garages were built with Austin Sevens in mind and they were about 4' 6'' wide. If I put the SC in my garage (with the mirrors folded) I would have to leave the top down and climb out of the back because I couldn't open the doors!!! Most UK garages built before the middle of the last century are just storage rooms today. My SC sits on the drive with a cover (shipped from the US) over it for most of the winter.
