Default Idea for Cassette Player

I just had a revolutionary idea to put the cassette player to good use lol Plug the 3.5mm jack into my iPod and insert the cassette. Is there any reason that this wouldn't work? I remembered this from back in the day to get portable CD players to play in cars with only cassette.

It'll work fine, won't sound very good though.

You're better off creating an auxiliary input with a VAIStech unit or something. It'll sound much better.

Used to be that this was the BOMB! Everybody had to have this to listen to CD. How things have changed.

Not it is all about AUX input. Whether it be USB, coax, etc. Soon it will all be wireless.

I use a cassette now (cost about $10), but just purchased a FM transmitter (cost $22) - received yesterday UPS - we will see if it is twice as good!
I also have a Aux unit I purchased, but haven't installed yet - paid about $100 - Hope it is 10 times better

I had a eureka moment the other day when I realized that I can play mp3s and streaming radio (pandora) from my phone through my Jabra Cruiser 2 Handsfree unit. It has an FM transmitter in addition to the bluetooth so calls can go through my speakers. The music sounds good (better than the regular FM transmitter I have but still radio quality) and there very are no extra wires.

BTW the Cruiser 2 is an excellent bluetooth Handsfree device if anyone is interested.

I used to have an FM transmitter in my other car, it worked good until I got close to work and other stations started interrupting the signal. I saw a cassette adapter on eBay for $3.50, so I figured I would give it a try, then I could compare it to my FM transmitter from my other car. This is just temporary, ultimately, I plan to get either Vaistech or an entirely new CD/DVD player installed, but I want to use the money for some other things first (Custom headers, hopefully coming soon!).

they sell one at target or walmart which is a philips and it works pretty good. I have that and a monster cable brand one id sell. The problem with them is you have to keep your volume on your ipod about half way or it will distort on your speakers. It the SLU created aux input this no longer matters just like the stock aux input in my is250.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with using the tape player auxilary. you guys do realize you have to turn the ipod/iphone/mp3 device volume down a bit and it sounds just like a CD being played.

EDIT ^^ What robertrios said. doesnt have to be halfway but 3/4 is perfect

Had another idea...Does anyone know if they make something like this? It'd be nice to always have the cassette inserted without the cable hanging off. Cassette with one or more 3.5mm inputs:

So...how do you insert the tape? With plugs hanging out?
