Debating on getting rid of the LEXUS and SC430 emblems. These are attached via double sided tape right?

Am thinking of retaining the L.

The dark color debadged cars look better because it stands out. Mine being white, less noticeable.

But people seeing the rear knowing it is a Lexus but not knowing what model...priceless.

Any comments?

Removing the "SC430" and "Lexus" logos from the back of the car does make people wonder what you're driving. And yes, it's relatively easy for those two item. The FSM recommends mono-filament (fishing) line between two blocks of wood. Others have said dental floss works fine too. Afterwards you may have a 'shadow' which can be buffed out with a little elbow grease. The "L" center logo is different. There are two alignment dimples, so removing it means body work if you want a smooth finish.

Personally I like the incognito look, especially on darker colors. My SC is silver and the chrome logos look nice on it, but I will get around to doing it too someday.

Note: I first tried with dental floss, which frayed and broke, so I used fishing line.

I wonder if the same process could be used on those ugly door moldings that I have on my car. Hmmm...

Someone put moldings on that beautiful tigereye mica... What the HELL is wrong with people.... wonder if they were hiding something??? But yes it should work too.

I know, right? Apparently it was a Lexus dealer offered option color keyed to the car. Who knew?

I'm having the car detailed today so it will wait ti the next time but I'd like them off.

Those guys from Detail Werkz did such a nice job. Too bad you weren't quite ready to remove the side molding... they would have had cleaned up and back to OEM pristine getting all the sticky dbl sided tape residue off.

You can also use a heat gun/blow dryer to warm up the double sided tape then like previously mentioned fishing string or floss will do to dedage it. I think I will do this to mines and have only the lexus symbol.

looks much better de-badged. i'd also remove the front logo. it's a single screw, so if you don't like the way it looks without it, you can easily put it back on.

i'd be careful if i were you. since mine was an 02 the emblems were etched into the paint from being old i guess.. i had to get it repainted after debadging

If the badge leaves a bad etch, heck put the double sided tape and re-badge it! Yeah?

after debadging you'll need to use a polishing compound to remove
the 'ghosting' and faint scratches.
once done, you'll have a perfectly mirrored finish.
