If it's well maintain...100k or more. This engine design has been very reliable. But remember maintenance is in increments of time, not just miles, to be well maintained. My 02 has 56K on it and I just replaced the timing belt, it would have been 10 years old in April.

BTW the lexus owners manuals are online if you care to review them. You can find them at http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdriver...0xy!1368220165
You'll can also see the vehicle's service history at lexus dealers if you care to look.

I spoke with my Lexus mechanic yesterday.. he told me he has seen a NUMBER of LS cars with over 500,000 miles on the odometer!
Not sure what that engine is..but that's fantastic!

I have an 03 with 59k, so far no mechanical failures. Before I owned it the power mirrors on both sides were replaced, since I have had it I replaced the GPS stereo (one peice), and the power seat track driver's side. The car has no rattles, and still appears new. I repainted the seats for a few dollars, and the interior also appears new. Repairs are expensive, the few I listed are approaching $9,000. But I could have gone aftermarket for much less. Under warranty I fix any little thing with OEM. As well built as these cars are old is old, I expect in 2020 my SC will need replacing. I will have owned it 10 years by then.

For what it's worth, mine is ten years old and looks like and runs like new. It only has 35,000 miles, but I have maintained it pretty well.
The engine in the SC has always been the same engine in the current LS, give or take a year. That engine is considered one of the best ever: very smooth and reliable and very long lasting. I don't think any purchaser's concern should be about the engine. I figure my engine is going to keep on truckin' long after I shuffle off this mortal coil, as Willie the Shake used to say.

If the SC is garaged (with reasonable conditioned air) and maintained well, it can easily beat mileage expectations (like 200K) and age (say 20). Some of the SC's are a decade old and they still look great and still comand a good price. And since they stopped making our babies...they are collectibles now.

like azkaty said wit the LS models when i was researching before i bought my LS400 i saw over 10 carfax reports with over 400k miles on them. I was so impressed i got a
LS400 with 160k miles on it and got a SC430 with 155k miles on it and i fully expect it to go 300k miles or more! i think since they started making them in 02 its still a little too early to really know how far they will go. In another 4 or 5 years we should have a much better way to guage them but if the other models are any indication i think we should all be happy!!!
